Meet Myeshea Cheri

Today we’d like to introduce you to Myeshea Cheri.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Well, 15 years ago, I found a random plant on the corner. It only had one leaf, but I was drawn to it so I picked it up and put it in my Mini Cooper. I repotted, watered and gave her a spot by the window where she could bathe in the sun. Later I learned she was a split leaf Philodendron after three years she was huge, her name is Big Momma. She is what inspired me to immerse myself in botanical arts.

Since then, I’ve purchased, propagated, and grown 100’s of plants. In 2021 I started Plant Parent Society where I specialize in the art of Kokedama, macrame and plant accessories. We provide consultation in person and online.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, I was beyooond working for ANYONE. I realized the time and energy I was putting into building other people’s brands could benefit my own brand. It wasn’t an easy road but I have now come to a place where I can make my own schedule and still have a personal life. I’m less stressed and the glow is different.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
So I specialize in the ancient art form of Kokedama which means “moss ball” in Japanese. After much research and practice, I developed a beautifully intricate hand-woven pattern that has become my signature.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Be genuine, take pictures and interact with the public are my best advice for networking. Having my website and electronic business card on hand have helped me get my foot in doors I didn’t think was possible.
