Today we’d like to introduce you to Joey Dillon.
Joey, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all started when I was accepted to college. I graduated high school and I was on my way. The first semester, I’m sitting in class and my mind was just flowing so fast. The stuff they teach you in college was just so slow and I felt like I was meant to do something more. So I decided to take the money I was getting for college and put it towards opening my first company. Yes, I don’t have any student loans. I’m winning.
My first company was a technology company, called PROFormance Technology. We were big into automating home. We designed and created the systems that would run peoples home. A year later, these easy Crestron, Lutron, etc apps started coming out and basically killed the business.
Next, was my personal training company called STATUS ATHLETIC CLUB. My whole pitch and idea for that company was our personal trainers would travel to the clients home. We took away all the excuses clients would make to not make it to their sessions, so we traveled to them. Started that company in 2010 and still booming now.
Now, I own The Construction Agency and it is going great! We are booming in Atlanta and business is great. Next move is buying commercial properties and doing new residential builds.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Its been very tough. Young guy trying to do big things and convince people to believe in him and what he’s doing. Very tough.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Construction Agency – what should we know?
So my company, THE CONSTRUCTION AGENCY or TCA for short, specialize in big remodels and new builds. We only do residential currently but hoping to get the commercial license to broaden my companies workload. My proudest moment with TCA is just the simple fact that I am young and making big moves in the city. I definitely stand out in my 28-year-old age group.
What sets us apart from other companies is just the ability to start your project asap and being mindful of your home. keeping our surroundings clean and doing a great job is definitely what we are known for.

I am my own mentor. Being a young black man in Atlanta, trying to do big things and trying to talk to other people who have “made it”, is tough. So I said “f them”. I will show people that I can differentiate myself from others. Its, always been me and only me. No partners. I’ve tried it before and they just didn’t want it more than I do.
