Hi Jordan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a 22 years old wigmaker who specializes in hair coloring. I am a Clark Atlanta University Alumna with a Business Marketing degree. I also sell wigs and bundles. I have been making wigs and coloring weave since 2017. I established my business May 3, 2019. I took two years of cosmetology school through dual enrollment in high school and have interned at two hair salons before I became an entrepreneur. I taught myself how to make wigs with the knowledge I learned from school. I was wearing my own wigs and color all throughout college and everyone always asked “Who colors your hair? Where do you get your hair from?“.
When I first started, I had little to no support from some friends & family but that didn’t stop me at all. I had a dream and a vision I was going to accomplish with or without support. I started taking a few clients just to see if I could handle the pressure of a business and being a full-time student before actually opening up to the public. It started off very slow and then it started picking up once the years went by, I got better and faster at what I do. As of today, I’ll be in business three years and I’ve been very steady, professional and consistent.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The struggles along the way was definitely support. All it takes a quick reshare or follow to support but some people cannot do the bare minimum. Another struggle was building clientele in ATL which is the hardest place to build because it’s so competitive. My last struggle was diversity because I wanted my wig pages to set me apart from everybody else’s. My page is not basic it’s very bright theme, bold, filled with quotes and different colors and styles.

My business is Colors by Jordan and it’s a wig business specializing in hair coloring. I’m known for my different and bold color looks. What sets me apart from others is my versatility because I don’t just make wigs or just color wigs. I make, customize, color, cut, revamp, & sell them. Some wig business only do 2/ 6 or 1/6. Another thing is I do monthly brand shoots for my wigs and update my website & my social media pages with the month and season change. I stay up to date with everything which is another reason I stand out. Most business keep the same format.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like best about my city is the multiple opportunities & how the city isn’t far from where I stay. What I like least about my city is the scammers who make it hard for people like me who actually work hard to get clients instead of scamming them.
