Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Gordy.
Hi Grace, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always wanted to be in the fashion industry since I was a little girl and attended SCAD here in Atlanta and graduated with a Fashion Marketing and Management degree. I had a bunch of different internships in various facets of the fashion world and even worked for Seventeen magazine in New York City. After college, I moved to Charleston, South Carolina and started working at a cute clothing boutique downtown. I loved everything about it and knew I wanted to start my own. I moved back to Atlanta, Georgia and my mom and I made my dream come to life. We opened our clothing boutique, Honey & Hazel in 2014 and it was exactly how I’d dreamed. We were blessed to have our business for seven years and met the most wonderful people. Unfortunately, we closed our business last year due to Covid. I took some time off to figure out what my next step would be in my career and while I’m still trying to figure that out, I decided to get back into what I love and start doing influencer marketing. It’s brought me back to my passion of marketing myself, selling clothes, styling and connecting with my social media community. I’m so excited to pursue this new avenue for myself and grow my new “social media” business.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not, and to be honest I have no idea exactly where my path will lead me, but I’m excited for the journey. Owning a business definitely taught me that life is not easy and you can’t ever predict what may come your way. It also taught me to pivot and tap into your strengths. When one door closes, another one opens.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Right now, I’m a “fashion influencer”, “blogger”, “digital creator”. Not even sure what the right term is anymore! 🙂 All of the above! I’m sharing my favorite things with my community on social media. I love sharing clothes, especially from Amazon. I specialize in sharing easy every day outfits on a budget and also on a real size girl. You don’t have to be a size 0 to look great in your clothes, wear what you want and be confident and that’s my goal is to help others feel stylish and confident in their bodies!
How do you define success?
I think success is a relative term and means so many different things to each person. Success to me is feeling proud of what I’m doing, reaching my personal goals and ultimately being happy.
