Life & Work with Shanice Green

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanice Green.

Shanice, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Honestly, I never thought about being a Photographer. It just came to me!

Backstory! One of my sisters, Jasmine Simone, is a Model and I was at one of her shoots in Helen, GA when her photographer, Robert Herbert, handed me the camera and said, “Shoot those mountains over there.” The shot was beautiful and the way I held the camera felt so natural! He encouraged me to shoot the rest of the time there and I got to shoot both of my sisters that day and I INSTANTLY fell in love! After going through a few training classes with Mr. Robert, he gifted me with my First Camera! The best part about this trip is that my photos were selected to be featured in a Magazine called Miss Sis, now called EMpeccable Magazine! Who would’ve thought that the first time I touched a camera, that it would be good enough for a Magazine! I had to keep going!

This was all was five years ago and it’s been nothing but growth and blessings from there! I’m grateful for the wonderful people I’ve encountered thus far and everything that they have instilled in me will not go in vain. I give God all the Glory!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I always tell myself this, nothing worth having is going to come easy! There’s joy in struggle! Being an entrepreneur has its ups and downs but because it’s yours, it’s your baby, you’re willing to do whatever it takes to make it flourish. I had to learn how to embrace those hard nights when things aren’t moving as fast as I thought or I’m looking around at others, envious because I’m not at the level I want to be at yet. I had to remind myself that we all have our own path! If you love what you do, if it’s a true passion, the work will come, elevation will happen! I have to keep striving, I have to keep moving forward. For my children, for my family, for ME!

I’ve ran into times when I’ve had no business at all for months. I’ve ran into times where I’ve had people lie on my business for profitable gain. I’ve ran into self-doubt! People close to me using me for “discounts”. I wanted to give it up completely at one point, I put the camera down and start selling clothes and shoes! That adventure came to a pause after traveling with my sister to her shows and realizing how much I missed it! It was time to pick it back up and take it up a notch!

Even in my times of doubt, I remained steady in my marketing! I kept posting deals and taking pictures of my family behind the scenes to perfect my craft. I was in preparation for what I knew would play out in my favor. As long as I continue to stay humble and put in the work, whether you have customers or not, they will come!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a jack of all trades honestly but I’m known for my business, Infinite by Shay! I’m a photographer specializing in Freelance and Fashion Photography.

Infinite by Shay is an umbrella for the many entrepreneurial adventures I embark on. Its sole purpose, for now, is photography with a “hint” of retail sales!

My plan in the near future is to eventually turn my photography business into a Hospice! Yes, a hospice! I’m a Hospice nurse and I love, love, love my patients! I’ve ran into some questionable facilities in my seven years of being a nurse and I’m fed up to the point that I want anyone going through that phase in life to go through it with true care and compassion from an amazing staff with a beautiful, clean facility to call home, owned and operated by ME! That will be my proudest moment!
