Community Highlights: Meet Shaquille Richards of CBG Cosmetics, CBG Beauty Emporium

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaquille Richards.

Shaquille, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started as a makeup artist in 2014. With no experience, a dream and a few drug store products, I would practice applying makeup on my friends. As I continued to practice, I turned my hobby into a business. I have a love for cosmetics and making women feel beautiful and I knew this was the right path for me. Throughout the years, I discovered the passion for formulating and distributing cosmetics and decided to join the cosmetic retail industry.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road to entrepreneurship has been a challenging yet joyous path. I believe two important keys to entrepreneurship is to believe in yourself and never give up. It may sound cliché but it goes a long way in this journey!

An entrepreneur is a person who has a vision or dream of a business and decides to manifest it into reality.

The easy part is creating the name, a logo and finding colors that best suits your brand, but the most challenging part is execution of the full vision. From marketing to branding – In business all components must work at once for it to be successful and if you are a one-man team this can be a challenge on many levels. Faith in God, meditation, and education has helped me overcome many challenges.

CBG Cosmetics is brand and lifestyle that inspires women to celebrate their divine beauty. Our mission is provide cruelty-free cosmetics and skincare for all. At the CBG Beauty Emporium, we sell a range of beauty products that meet the needs of your everyday woman to your glam girls! From our popular CBG Full Coverage Foundation that conceal scars, blemishes and tattoos to our luxury lipsticks and lashes. We are growing to become a full beauty brand that sells all beauty products!

Our brand is different from other cosmetic brands because we focus on inner and outer beauty! CBG stands for Crowned By God, as our mission is to spread self-love and empower women through our beauty products. A woman’s beauty is not defined by social media standards or societal standards but defined by her perception of herself and her divine beauty.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see the cosmetic industry transforming fully into e-commerce. Real estate is inflated due to various reasons and is in high demand. For retailers that do not provide services, it would only be more profitable for them to be an e-commerce stores. The funds you would spend in real estate, you would spend in social media marketing to grow and scale your business.
