Today we’d like to introduce you to Annalis.
Hi Annalis, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I always liked to take pictures when I was younger, but I never thought about modeling at all. I have always dreamt about becoming an actress, singer, and a dancer. I first thought about modeling when my sister brought it to my attention when I was just starting high school. I was staying with my sister for a month in that summer. I started to observe on how my sister was doing her modeling, and I was fascinated with it. I really found it interesting on how she was taking her pictures, the type of shoots she was doing, clothing brands/ different types of companies that she was working with.
After that summer, I realized that I wanted to start getting into modeling, so I tried. I was looking for modeling agencies and photographers in my region. But unfortunately during that time I was young, I couldn’t make time to do it. Throughout this time, when I was in high school, a lot of my fellow students would bully me, telling me that I will never be a model and that I will never succeed with a career such as modeling. This was also another reason why I didn’t want to start modeling. Also, I came from a toxic environment, so you can only imagine how that was, with people telling you that you will never be able to do modeling. So I decided when I graduated high school that I was actually gonna start my modeling career, so I did. I moved to Atlanta, Georgia. And that’s how it all started. My sister and my sister-in-law’s -sister started to help me with my modeling career. Both of them helped me practice my poses, angles, faces and finding photographers since I was new to the city. So I did a couple of shoots with a couple of different of photographers, and all went great. I started to post more on my Instagram, and that’s when I started to meet a bunch of different people in my industry. Currently, right now I still am just in the beginning of my modeling career, I continue to put my hard work in and dedication towards this field. I also will be starting a YouTube channel very soon, so keep an eye out on that.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, I would definitely say that the road hasn’t been smooth especially lately for me. I would say some of my struggles is finding the right people such as photographers, other models, makeup artists, etc. that want to help grow my portfolio, and help me work towards where I want to be at in my modeling career, lack of disciplining yourself laterally I feel like this is the one that has been affecting me a lot lately I haven’t been disciplining myself on what I been needing to working on and do in my career recently, but also mentally plays a role in this also because I feel as though some days I just want to give up on my modeling career because it hasn’t been going the way that I want it to, I tell myself, and forced to not give up on my dreams, and continue to keep on working hard. But with that being said continue to keep on working hard towards your goals and dreams. Never ever give up, there might be times that you want to but trust me, you’ll get through it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I don’t specialize in anything at the moment. In the future, I would like to give beginner models tips, secrets, and tricks about just starting in the modeling industry. I am known as a model, influencer, and content creator. The thing that I am most proud of is how far I have come from not really having that much in life. I grew up in poverty, so about everything that I just have, I bought it myself, and I am extremely grateful to be where I am at today. I feel what sets me apart from other people is I work extremely hard for everything that I have, and I am very determined when it comes to working towards my dreams and my goals, I am also kind, intelligent, and bold woman.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I do have some advice. Find a mentor that wants to help you with your career path and wants to help you succeed in it. Network with all different types of people. Meet new people. Search up on social media for people that are local in your area that are doing the same career as you or in a similar career path that you wanna go towards. Go out of your comfort zone, and talk to people face to face trust me, I know this might be awkward at first but it works!!
