Today we’d like to introduce you to Kennedy Gonzales.
Hi Kennedy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We started our hair business our sophomore year in high school. This is around the time our parents did not want us to have jobs because they wanted us to focus on school. Reagan and I (Kennedy) took a passion we had and turned it into a part-time hustle during school. It started out with us doing our friend’s and families hair, and that eventually turned into us taking clients at our school. We would go house to house, doing different styles on classmates. When we got to college however we began to slow down on taking clients because our focus was centered mainly around the careers we wanted to do at the time. Reagan was trying to be a sonographer and I myself was trying to be a registered nurse. These fields were completely opposite of the hair industry. Over time we began to grow unfulfilled with our majors and decided to take a year long break to get back into hair. Within a year, Reagan and I moved out of our parent’s house and opened Prestigious Beauty’s very first location in our two-bedroom apartment during covid. During this time, as we were building our clientele back up, Reagan and I worked full-time jobs just to support our living situation and to be able to invest into our hair company. In the beginning of 2021, we decided to take a leap of faith and leave our jobs to take clients full time. Within a month, and by the grace of God, we were able to get a salon suite, and business has been booming ever since then!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was not a smooth road whatsoever. At first, it was a lot of individuals deterring us from the hair business because certain people didn’t believe it was a lot of money in the field or it was just a waste of time. School also played a huge factor in why we weren’t able to get the clientele we needed to leave our full-time jobs. In high school, we would have to rely off of family and relatives and friends to drop us off and pick us up from our client’s houses. Surprisingly we were able to grow rapidly during the pandemic.
We’ve been impressed with Prestigious Beauty, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a hair salon located in Johns Creek, Suwanee Georgia and we offer a large variety of hair services such as braids and weaves (our most popular), silk presses, trims, natural hair care and maintenance and so much more. We also offer hair growth oils and they are called PURE by Prestigious Beauty. This is a great product that encourages hair growth and a healthy scalp. We are set apart from others because we enjoy making our clients feel beautiful inwards and outwards. We are very happy that we have been able to uphold our quality and our great customer service. We find that to be extremely important in business. We would like the readers to know that we offer great services and an amazing hair product that will give birth to many more products.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Kennedy’s favorite childhood memory was when my mom took my brother and I to Orlando Studios in Florida.
Reagans favorite childhood memory was when her parents bought her a dog.
