Conversations with Aaron (ASAP) Almodovar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron (ASAP) Almodovar.

Hi Aaron (ASAP), we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started off recording on a slide up phone with my closest friends and family members at young age of 10-12. I was always super interested in making people laugh. I was always into having people be excited to hear my voice or see my face and starting off the greetings with a smile. I figured I can give comedy skits a real try when I met fat boy sse in 2017. After that, I uploaded my first skit on Instagram and it got a little over 700 views and for me that was a lot! I soon started to view at it more as something I HAVE to do. “I have to make people laugh” it genuinely makes me happy to have others smile due to my actions.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No road to a dream is smooth, I’m still on my path. A struggle I’m familiar with was not feeling like I was enough. A lot of my videos were self-inflicting on my weight at the time that’s when I realized a lot of people were laughing at that fact a little too much. Wasn’t till I had a conversation with a friend of mine that goes by TLBN ( @1ceotali on Instagram) where he pointed out it was more of a personal hate towards myself then it was a joke to have people laughing. Since then, I never made a fat joke on myself after that. I’ve always had a supporting group of friends around me. My closest friends TJ (@g0lden.richez1) and Ron (@1kronnn) can be caught in nearly almost every video that has multiple people involved. Im grateful to my lil cousin Aaron (@arattythegoat) he is always there to support me. My biggest supporters are my family. They’ve made this road much smoother for me than others. And I’m grateful for that!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My comedy is what I’m most known for, fashion as well. What sets me apart from others is I try my best to make it personal. Make it relatable have someone tell their own story through MY work while sharing it. I’m most proud of not letting off the gas completely. Finding what was I doing wrong and finding who was I around holding me back so I can cut it loose. I’m also most known for my protective brother skits.

What does success mean to you?
Success is when you are able to look back at what you have done through every obstacle. Life is about chance; it’s also about what you allow to stop you from doing what you love. You’re not successful until you are truly happy.
