Conversations with Jenevieve Amma

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenevieve Amma.

Hi Jenevieve, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m first-generation American, my parents immigrated to NYC in the 70s, they met in the Bronx in Tracey Towers, I was born in the penthouse July of 1985. They eventually split and my mother moved us up into the Hudson Valley. I grew up in Kent Lakes, to this day its nothing but forest and lakes and streams. It’s a part of the water source for NYC. On the weekends, I’d get to go on adventures with my father in the city. He would have me in every borough in every Caribbean spot, juice bar, record shop. My dad used to build the sound systems for the dancehall parties back in England. Before he passed away in 2016, he was building and installing setups for the small Caribbean radio stations in NYC. I ended up going to the Cooper Union for the advancement of Art when it was still full-tuition scholarships. My dad wanted me to switch into their engineering or architecture program but I graduated in the Art program. He could always see I was more of a scientist with good taste.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
If the road is smooth, there is no experience. All the so called problems I’ve ever had stemmed from not living in my value.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an artist, alchemist, healer, diviner, master herbalist, mycologist and educator. I am a manifesting generator, I do everything necessary to live my highest destiny enjoying this human experience. I have been known for many years as an artist coming up out of New York City. I later moved back to my family home in the country to grow food and make medicine in my family tradition. After the birth of my daughter in 2011, I developed Herbaceutikals, a wholistic wellness and skincare line where I offered all organic & wildcrafted medicinal grade products. Since moving to Georgia in 2017, I have moved from producing items to teaching with a focus on mycology research as a geneticist as well as teaching sustainable permaculture agricultural practices to my community. Social Media is just a glimpse into the real work I put in 24/7. There is no way to capture the unseen other than the results manifested to this dimension and I’m the living proof.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Don’t listen to no one but God.
