Today we’d like to introduce you to Fred Curry.
Hi Fred, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I spent 18 years in corporate finance. After getting laid off in the summer of 2019, I made the decision to get off the hamster wheel. I needed to choose a career that would set me and my family up for the long term. I remembered what a good lending experience we had when we purchased our home in April. I called our loan officer. He passed my resume on to the recruiter at Southeast Mortgage. I interviewed and the rest is history. Less than six months after joining the mortgage industry, COVID happened. Fortunately, I had done a lot of groundwork before the shutdown. In April 2020, I was flooded with business and I’ve built my career on that wild 2020 experience.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Real estate is full of highs and lows. Unless you’re some weirdo and actually like cold-calling, you have to overcome that fear. and separate your effort from the results initially. You will talk to a lot of nice people who don’t qualify. Then, you will lose customers to competitors, you will make mistakes but all in all, it’s amazing. I get to help people with what is typically the largest purchase they will ever make. You have to be trustworthy and you have to know your stuff. If your heart is in the right place, you’ll be successful ultimately.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Christmas. Christmas was always a special time in my family. When I was small, my aunt, uncle and cousins from Vero Beach, FL would come and visit. We would have these huge family gatherings at either my grandmother’s or aunts’ houses. There was lots of food and lots of love.
