Meet David West of Four Oaks Manor in Buford

Today we’d like to introduce you to David West.

Thanks for sharing your story with us David. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Four Oaks Manor was my wife’s vision, Unable to find a venue that met her niece’s needs for a wedding reception in 2003, Lisa hosted it at our house. When the reception was over, she told me that she was going to build the wedding venue that was needed in Atlanta, and she did. The focus of Four Oaks Manor is the large farmhouse built in 1920, and its gardens. It is beautiful, yet unpretentious, it is simple but elegant. Exactly as she envisioned it.

Unfortunately, Lisa passed away in 2008, but we continue to host simple but elegant weddings, receptions, parties, showers, and luncheons at Four Oaks Manor. We have won the Wedding Wire Couples’ Choice Award eight times, and we were voted among the Best of Gwinnett in 2015 and 2016. My sweet wife, Mary Beth, and I (I have remarried – at Four Oaks Manor, of course), feel so fortunate and honored to have been a part of so many beautiful weddings in Atlanta. It has been a labor of love.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has not been smooth. We have experienced tremendous joy and disappointment. Our faith in our abilities and our resolve to succeed got us through the hurdles placed before us. Fortunately, our intent was to provide the wedding and reception space that the community needed, and we were able to make the investments of time and money to do just that. Our first major hurdle was Lisa’s passing. The second was getting approval from the County to offer our services and make the changes they required to the property.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Four Oaks Manor – what should we know?
We specialize in outdoor weddings and receptions. We are known for our gardens and the relaxed atmosphere found at Four Oaks Manor. What sets us apart is our rural feel. That is quickly being lost in Atlanta. We are just at the Northern edge of the city just off the interstate; not eighty miles outside the city.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Obviously, Lisa for her vision and early effort. Mary Beth for her determination, good judgement, and faith.

My friends and family. They helped transform the property from a house to an event facility. Our early brides, they took a chance in selecting us before the facility was complete.

Pricing:
