Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey Rutherford.
Hi Casey, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a born and raised Atlanta gal. I grew up in the North Atlanta suburbs and attended the University of Georgia where I met my husband, Barry. We’ve been married ten years and have three adorably mischievous children together who keep us on our toes and ensure that no day is the same.
I spent the first eight years of my professional career climbing corporate ladders and aiming for corner offices. I always loved what I did, but in the back of my mind I always wanted to build something for myself instead of someone else. I was raised by entrepreneurs and always had great models around me of people who not only built their own dreams but who built others up along the way as well.
About five years ago, I pivoted into the world of real estate. Working in real estate afforded me the opportunity to leverage my background in management consulting/data analytics to help my family, friends, and community make educated decisions about their largest investment. It also allowed me to do what I love most – connect with consumers and help them build wealth.
We’ve lived all over this amazing city; from Brookhaven to Smyrna to North Druid Hills, and now we’re here to stay in Milton. Our home away from home is the ball field where on any given Saturday, you can find me and Barry chasing our two years old back and forth between baseball and lacrosse games and keeping the concession stand in business. In all our spare time, Barry and I love exploring North Georgia, finding new restaurants, and enjoying happy hours as often as we can!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Honestly, the biggest challenge in our business right now is… Lack of inventory! Bet you’ve never heard that before! Sellers are hanging tight because they ‘have nowhere to go,’ and buyers are feeling the pain in their pocketbook. I know there’s a lot of buzz about “off market opportunities,” but unless you just really don’t want 100 people in your home during a listing weekend, there’s no reason that a seller shouldn’t be taking their home to market. Taking home to market means there will never be a question about whether or not money is being left on the table, which I can almost guarantee there will be, in an off market transaction.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I like good food, good coffee, and good company unless any of the above include dancing or karaoke. Then I’m OUT. Just ask my neighbors, I’ve ducked out of many a superbowl party turned 90’s rap karaoke.
