Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Smith.
Hi Angel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my business in 2020 but gave up on it before I actually started it for numerous of reasons like fear, doubt, and just thinking way to hard about things that truly did not matter. I got my LLC, Ein and all of my legal documents for my business then I m pretty much abandoned my idea. After having my baby and being out of work, I had plenty of time to think and actually write things down so I decided to pick up where I left off. It took a lot of investing, as well as trial and error but my business is here and has been doing great. As a little girl, I would always play in my mom and sister’s makeup just to take pictures then, I got into modeling and started to learn a lot more about makeup. I’ve always enjoyed the beauty of it and never left the house without my lipgloss or my lashes poppin. So I decided to start a beauty brand that I can proudly call my OWN. I sell a variety of cosmetic products from glosses, mattes, brushes, liners and more. It won’t stop there. I will continue to expand and cater to all women beauty needs.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some struggles I’ve faced with my business has been testing products. I’ve found myself frustrated with product thinking I would never find the right one but all it took was patience. The right things came to me and were exactly what I wanted for my brand. Branding is also my biggest struggle and not my strong point but it’s something I’m working on.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on? What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of being a mom to my two sons as well as being educated. Getting through college was not a breeze but I did it and I am doing it all over again. I graduated undergrad in 2019 with my degree in business management and a minor in accounting. I am currently enrolled in school taking up my master’s in finance. I am a mother of 2 boys. I am a freelance model for now. (Heavy on the now). I have been modeling since 2015. I would say my heart sets me apart from others. I am a really big kind-hearted person and no matter what a person has done to me, it never changes. I love that about myself.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Networking can take you places you never imagined being. You never know who you will meet. Never be afraid to network and never be afraid to listen. The more you listen you learn new things and some of those things will take you along way if you actually apply yourself.
