Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamella Nash-Charles.
Hi Jamella, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a wife and mom of two. I am a licensed Realtor ® and Serial Entrepreneur in the Metro-Atlanta area. I’m originally from Queens/Long Island, NY and I moved to Duluth, GA in 2018. I was already a licensed Real Estate Salesperson in NY, where I mostly closed on luxury rentals in Manhattan. I was able to obtain my license here in GA through reciprocity. I am licensed in NY, GA and I plan to be licensed in California as well. I own several e-commerce drop shipping businesses and I have more business ideas I’d like to launch within the next year!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a Mom, a Wife, and an Entrepreneur can be A LOT! I feel like I need 15 of me!! Honestly, pursuing a real estate career in the south was a BIG adjustment. As a New Yorker, we are fast-paced “go getters” and it’s really laid back here in GA, lol. Trying to figure out how to adjust in a new state, prospect new clients and business, and make sure that my family was comfortable here in a new state was very challenging.
My kids love their school and made tons of new friends. My husband and I got married here in GA (August 2021). July 2022 will make it four years since we’ve moved here and we couldn’t be happier. And we’re under contract on our new house here in GA! (of course, I am the Realtor® on the deal!)
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a Realtor®, I specialize in new construction homes, lease/purchase programs, luxury rentals, and listing/selling luxury homes. Luxury comes in ALL price points in my opinion. I have a good eye for finding the right real estate investments for my clients and making sure they are getting the most for the price that they are paying for in their investments. I can step into a home and let my clients know right away “Nope!! This isn’t it”. For me, it’s not about getting a quick commission check, it’s about making sure my clients are making the best decision on what would benefit them or their family in the future.
I’m a very visual person. I love creating “a day in my life” mini vlogs on IG, so when my clients see me in person, they already have an idea of who I am and feel comfortable with me. I am very assertive and I’m a no non-sense type of person. I’m always “on go” for my family, friends, and my clients. My customer service skills are exceptional for all of my clients in ANY price point.
I am extremely proud of being able to juggle multiple businesses, all while being a wife and mommy of two!
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
KEEP GOING!!! It sounds so cliche but really, KEEP GOING!!! Being an entrepreneur can be really frustrating and can really be discouraging sometimes but keep going! People that don’t see the vision will have an opinion or talk you out of your dreams but you HAVE to keep going. You can spend years working and praying towards your goals, but when it’s time to receive what you worked hard for, it will come QUICK!
Starting out, I wish I knew how to vet who I partnered myself with better. I’ve made a lot of mistakes aligning myself with firms, people, and/or investments that “sound great” but ended up not being a good asset to my career. Also with being an entrepreneur, you have to get out of the “employee” mindset. No one is going to hold your hand, no one owes you anything. You are your own boss.
