Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse and Julian Inglima, Tyler Griffith and Jack Gregg.
Hi Jesse, Julian, Tyler and Jack, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Our band, Everyday Dogs, started when the four of us (Jesse Inglima, Julian Inglima, Tyler Griffith, and Jack Gregg) met while working at a summer camp together in 2017. During off-hours, when we weren’t leading campers in high-ropes and adventure courses, we would get together and have jam sessions. We quickly found out that there was a lot of overlap in who our favorite bands were (Ramones, The Strokes, The Chats). From there, we started writing our own music and setting out on our journey to play shows and really give our band a shot. Since 2018, we’ve played over 100 gigs in the Atlanta/Athens area and have recorded over 20 songs in 3 different states.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As the old adage goes, “It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll”. We are doing our absolute best to establish the band as a full-time reality, and the process of doing that can be quite difficult. That being said, we do our best to turn obstacles into opportunities.
For example, when Julian Inglima (lead singer/rhythm guitarist) thought he had graduated from the University of Georgia in 2021 but then realized he hadn’t passed one of his classes, he had to take an extra semester of school. While reeling from the setback, Julian channeled his experience into writing the song “Degree”, which tells the story of his failed graduation to the sound of loud guitars and thundering drums.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Everyday Dogs are the skateboarding, Capri-Sun drinking, surfer-punk rockers of Atlanta. The boys in the band show up to every gig ready to party hard and play even harder. With a slew of musical influences ranging from garage-rock heroes The Strokes and The Kooks to newer punk legends like Skeggs and Dune Rats, every song puts loud drums, big guitar solos, and powerful vocals front and center. Everyday Dogs are a reminder that rock ‘n’ roll can be (and should be) a lot of fun.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Take your music seriously, but don’t take yourself too seriously. Getting to write your own music, record it, and then play it for a bunch of people at gigs is something that should be exciting and fun. If it’s not, then it’s not worth all of the blood, sweat, and tears that it takes to be an artist.
