Meet Ashlee Dixon of Inkbyash

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlee Dixon.

Hi Ashlee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Ashlee Dixon. Known by lil Ashlee. I am a 21-year-old Tattoo artist based in Fulton county. I have been in love with tattoo’s as long as I can remember. My passion for tattoo comes from simply loving art. Since I was a child, I always wanted tattoos that’s all I talked about constantly and I couldn’t wait to turn 18 to get one. But unfortunately, I got one at the age of 16 because I just couldn’t resist.. I started my tattoo journey in August 2021. I got to where I am today by needing a hustle needing something to do to provide for my daughter. I was on social media one day, and a very good tattoo artist, he goes by the name @inkbydee_ made a post and asked “Did you have to know how to draw to do tattoos?” I always thought you were supposed to know how to draw to do tattoo’s, but with today’s technology that is not the case. As he explained I was very intrigued. Once he explained everything, I just knew I had found my hustle my passion. Dee had made a masterclass video on tattoos giving you the basic information you need (lining, shading, cleaning, products.) Literally, everything you needed to get started. I bought everything he told me to buy and started practicing on fake skin. I got discouraged because the stencil would never stick onto the fake skin, so I started practicing on myself. People thought I was crazy but I was only crazy determined to get this right. Once I got the basics down, I was ready to rock and roll. All I needed now was people to let me practice on them and my friends gave me great support on everything. I’m always thinking about getting more money and bettering myself for me and my child. I got to thinking I can do more than just tattoo’s . I could learn to do piercings as well. Once I got all the equipment to do piercings with all my clients who came to get a tattoo let me try a piercing on them . That’s how I got here today based on faith in myself and hard work.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey overall has been smooth with bumps in the road just like anybody else. I am a Parent that’s single that’s raising my three-year-old daughter that’s on the Autism spectrum disorder. The challenge I had to face and overcome is being a mother with a child that has a disability and still balance my everyday life and work.
