Today we’d like to introduce you to Oladimeji Ajegbile.
Hi Oladimeji, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started as a student architect exploring the design world for what it would take to understand design beyond buildings and I realized that design is a way of life not just the study of buildings and infrastructure. In 2011, I encountered the Adobe Suite and from exploring the tolls within, I realized that I could create something from nothing and this fuelled my passion to explore the world of visual design. This was how my career as an all-around creative started.
From exploring what design as a lifestyle means to working with top brands in my country and building an online community who also want to start up something from nothing was a dream come through for me and the dream keeps getting bigger as my influence and my knowledge of the creator economy continues to grow.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve struggled with the most prevailing issues creatives face daily from imposter syndrome to work burnout and anxiety, you name it. However, it has been exciting seeing how these struggles can be turned into opportunities for growth.
Working with clients from remote ends of the world, electricity and internet issues also weigh in and the constant pressure to fit into the standards society and social media have set.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I started as an Architect with specialization in Interior and Landscape. I practiced for four years unofficially and two years officially before taking a hiatus to focus more on exploring the creative world beyond buildings.
I continued in branding and communications and I specialize in visual design and identity, brand strategy and content marketing. Over the past ten years, I’ve worked with religious organizations, startups and few micro enterprises crafting beautiful brand identity experiences that meet user’s needs and business goals.
I’m also a media producer and my works range from video production to audio production in podcast form. I produce The Simple Creative an Internet Show/Interview/Podcast targeted at creative individual who intends to live a life of creativity thereby inspiring them to be better persons in both areas of life (Personal & Professional) and this happens through interviewed stories of Creatives, Entrepreneurs and other aspiring Creatives.
I’m very passionate about the creative lifestyle, simplifying the creative process, and also exploring well-being for creatives and I do this via storytelling on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and any other platforms that will let me be expressive so if you’re seeking clarity about your creative lifestyle.
I also create stock photos on Pexels and Unsplash. My photos collectively have gotten over 100M views across all platforms with thousands of downloads and a lot of features on top websites like Forbes, Yahoo, Psychology Today, India Times, Nature and many more.
Over the years as a creative, I’ve been able to consistently build confidence and growth in my art, improve my writing and public speaking skills, have a steadily growing audience, get exposed to great freelance opportunities, a good number of collaborations with big league organizations and constant streams of new knowledge and income.
As someone who is very passionate about knowledge transfer, I’ve hosted trainings, tutorial classes and mentorships programs for creatives from different industries and sectors.
