My passion for hair started when I was in high school. If it was related to hair, I knew something. When I started college I started making wigs for myself. I was transitioning from relaxed to natural hair and was looking for the perfect protective style.
In the 2nd semester of my freshmen year, I started my wig business. People were always complimenting my hairstyles and were curious as to how I always had a new style. I took my idea of bringing affordable beauty to the college campus and my business was born. One aspect that helped grow my business was my knowledge of hair as well as my generosity. Anytime someone had a hair emergency they would call me for help and I would answer.
As a marketing major, I began to utilize social media as a source of advertising. Through my digital skills and charming smile, I created social campaigns that attracted people to my company. I have recently launched my website and I am in the process of creating a line of pre-made wigs.
Has it been a smooth road?
The journey has been challenging. With the influence of social media and celebrities, people style preference change and it is important to stay on top of the trends while also being honest with your clients of the services you can and cannot provide. Building a clientele is the main part of any business and with so much competition it is a challenge but I am confident in myself as well as my product.

Lust Lace Wigs is a custom wig company that specialized in closure and lace frontal hair units. I create these custom units by hand to create a durable, long-lasting wig. I specialize in lace frontal and lace closure units, which give the illusion of realistic hairline and extensions. I am known for my traditional curly unit “Fiesty”, which is my top seller along with my personal favorite “Melissa”, which is an ocean wave bob.
I am most proud of my website and my feature in The West Georgian newspaper. I personally designed my website and it feels good to look at something and take pride in its creation.
My ability to customize the wig around the person’s personality allows me to make the perfect wig. When someone orders a wig for me I ask an array of questions based on the everyday activity, personal style, and preference to make a wig that will work for them.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is a great place for anyone pursuing entrepreneurship. For some people, it may feel crowded but I see it as a networking opportunity to learn and collaborate with like-minded individuals in my field. My recommendation for anyone starting out is to network and introduce yourself and business to everyone you meet. You never know who is interested in your service and word of mouth is one of the greatest marketing aspects. Wear your brand proudly and professionally and you will become successful.
