Today we’d like to introduce you to Micah & Dell Nelson.
Hi Micah & Dell, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Well, my name is Micah and I moved to New York in the mid-2000s needing a change in my life. There I met my wife Dell via Instagram who had a passion for photography which made me fall in love with it as well. After seven years of doing self-portraits and gaining a clientele, we officially birthed Studio MD. I think the fact that we’re a husband & wife duo made our business as successful as it is today!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth road, every entrepreneur knows that building a business requires you to work 24/7. One major challenge we overcame recently was me doing both photography and videography for a client at their event by myself due to my wife being nine months pregnant and had to stay home with our five years old. I am so used to having my partner with me for each session so the pregnancy/newborn period was different lol. Following that event, the client requested the final product on the same night so it was rough waking my pregnant wife to edit (she’s the editor) but she’s always up for a challenge and we delivered.
