Check Out Paul Martin’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Martin.

Paul, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am Paul aka Deranged the Insane. I am currently in the Navy, but before joining the navy I wanted to be a music artist. I started since I was 13 and have been making music ever since. I decided to join the Navy at the age of 19 and have been in since. I never stopped making music, however, due to military obligations I sometimes have to put it to the side, so it became more of a hobby than life. In 2021, I wanted to take my music seriously, because I felt I can do both, military and music. I started learning more about the music business and learning how the business side was. So that means I started registering my songs and getting them licensed so I can get paid for it every time my music got streamed. I also started performing live. I performed in Manhattan, New York, Atlanta and Tucker, GA and Virginia Beach, VA. I also have music videos for some of my songs. I wanted to show people that I was serious about my music just as much as I’m serious about serving in the military. Also along the way, I got my Associate’s Degree and currently working on my Bachelor’s in Human Resources. I want to be a motivation to anyone that feels that can’t do what they love while serving in the military. I understand the military job can be arduous but you shouldn’t let that stop your dreams or what you truly love.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was not smooth at all. From being gone out to see quite a lot to dealing with different personnel that could alter your mood to just finding time to yourself to focus on your craft and to create it at the studio, but I found a way and figured it out.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In the Navy, I am an Operation Specialist that function as a plotters, radio-telephone and Command and Control sound-powered telephone talkers and maintains Combat Information Center (CIC) displays of strategic and tactical information. I also qualified in flying drones and weapons tactics.

As a Music Artist, I have been doing it since I was 13 and now I have three albums in my catalogue, currently working on a 4th, and I have done live performances at bars, restaurants, and other venues and some were filmed for local television.

I feel I’m not your typical music artist because I’m still in the military I’m older than the typical music artist and I have music in different genres.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was very friendly, I can make friends very easily. I love talking to people and learning about them and what they went through. I played basketball when I was younger. I love my sports, especially football. I’m a huge Atlanta Falcons and Georgia bulldog fan. That comes from being from Georgia.
