Today we’d like to introduce you to Karen Ortega.
Hi Karen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started on 2018 but I have been passionate about photography since I was 8, I got my first disposable film camera and from there on I always would carry it with me everywhere I went. I’ve always had an interest and during college, I took photography classes that’ focused on light and basically learning all about light!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road but it has been the most enjoyable and most rewarding experience. Some of the struggles were the cost of lenses, learning light composition and finding my photography style. I am still working on finding my photography style!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a photographer and I enjoy working with small business owners and capturing their business essence and personality. As of now, I work with couples, business owners, and a lot of moms to be and I have enjoyed my journey. I am proud of believing in myself and trusting the journey.
What sets me apart is the commitment to my clients and the passion to help capture the essence of a moment that’s paused in time.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I met a group of women that were super supportive when I started photography. They encouraged me to keep going and played a key part on believing in myself and my ability to grow as a photographer. My husband as well has been an amazing support system as well as my friends.
