Hidden Gems: Meet Tierra Jeter of LaFleur Coffee Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tierra Jeter.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Owner of LaFleur Coffee Boutique. I am a wife and mom of two dedicated to empowering and inspiring millennial women of color! I left my full-time career eight months ago to create a new life for myself by following my dreams of full-time entrepreneurship. Whenever I speak about my business the number one question I receive is, “Why coffee?” To be frank, I’m in love with coffee culture and I know I can make a difference in the industry.

My love for coffee began as a child in our family home. I was attracted to the aroma every time a pot was brewed. So in love, that I would sneak around the house just to drink it. My mom didn’t believe that kids should have that much caffeine, and I can understand her reasoning. However, my relationship with coffee continued to blossom throughout my college years; but it wasn’t until I became a mom, juggling a full-time career, school, and a blog, that I realized how much of an impact coffee has had on my life… It was my go-to on the toughest days, my energy boost, it kept me going.

Blogging lead me to the local coffee shops, and while there I realized that I needed much more than just to drink good coffee at a regular shop. So my desire then became to walk into an atmosphere that welcomed me with open arms; somewhere that I belonged. Shortly after this epiphany, I was given the vision to create that ideal space that I longed for. But before jumping right into owning a shop, I chose to first learn more about the industry, develop my brand, and ultimately provide women of color with a luxury experience both online and at our local pop-ups.

I’d like to think that we are off to a great start.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Whew, this journey has been far from easy, but I am grateful for each lesson and connection I have made along the way. One of the biggest lessons I have learned is that a business will never be as successful as you want it to be if you do everything alone. Learn to use your resources, delegate, and most importantly TRUST THE PROCESS! No matter the industry everyone’s journey is different.

As you know, we’re big fans of LaFleur Coffee Boutique, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We specialize in 100% Arabica hand-crafted specialty coffee, unique herbal tea blends, and luxury coffee/tea accessories. One of our best-selling products is The “Immunity Boost” Herbal Tea, which has helped hundreds of people throughout the recent pandemic. Next in line is definitely our bold and sweet, White Chocolate Mousse flavored ground coffee, and I can’t wait to see how many of our customers fall in love with our new single-origin beans from Kenya and Honduras.

What I believe sets us apart from other coffee companies is our story, our vibrant aesthetics, excellent customer service, and the quality of our products. Every cup served, and every package delivered is created to enhance your java experience.

Aside from quality, I take great pride in the appearance of our brand at local markets/pop-ups as well as our name origin. LaFleur is the French word for “flower” and for the last five years I have encouraged millennial women to embrace their “blossoming season” or season of growth through my former blog “Blossoming Unlimited.” La’Fleur Coffee Boutique is the product of my personal blossoming season.

What’s next?
The future looks bright, and I am excited to celebrate our two years anniversary this August.

The vision of LaFleur is to become a world-renowned chain of luxury black-owned coffee shops centering our focus on both inclusion in the coffee industry and the growth and improvement of the black community. I hope that all the coffee & tea lovers reading this article will support my business and help me on my journey to cultivate an empowering experience for millennial women of color through coffee culture.
