Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Taylor.
Hi Paige, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I found my passion for design on Mistwood Court. The street of my childhood home where I first had the chance to execute my vision on how I wanted my space to look. I remember how exciting it felt when picking out different paints and fabrics with my mom. Since then, I’ve been able to express my love for design through various projects, the favorite being the purchase of my first home!
I never envisioned turning my decorating hobby into a business, but with me using IG as my outlet to showcase my home updates, it quickly turned into an opportunity where I could display my talents in the homes of some of my followers! I appreciate them being my beta clients during my trial/error phase as I built out my business and processes. During those test runs, I realized how relaxing it was for me to build out spaces and watch them come to life. It was then that I realized interior design was the true calling I’ve been searching for.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The designing part has been pretty smooth. It’s like visions start appearing when I see a space for the first time, and I begin building from there. Now for the struggles, they haven’t been super crazy but definitely caused a few setbacks. I quickly learned that a process needs to be set in place when working with a new client. I found myself getting so excited that I would jump ahead and start designing, resulting in later realizing the impact of not having a protocol and the wasted time that comes with it. I would also say figuring out my estimates for material and labor has been a learning curve as well. When I first started, my material estimates were too low, forcing me to either notify the client or just forfeit my labor costs and use it towards filling in the gaps where I underestimated. All in all, I’m thankful for those learning experiences, as it’s played a huge part in figuring out how best to run my business in a way that works for both the client and myself!
