Meet Tiana Clay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiana Clay.

Hi Tiana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As a little girl, my mom has always had me in modeling and pageants. So fashion is something I’ve always loved. I’ve had a dream of owning my own boutique with clothes for everyone. Whether it’s business or an after five dress. The ideal of my boutique came about five years ago when I finally decided it was time to move forward with my dream. But as we all know life gets in the way of those dreams at times. So finally last year 2021, I said no more!!! I am not waiting another year to launch my boutique. I did so much research on starting an online boutique for months and months of research. I knew this was something I had to learn on my own because I didn’t know anyone around me that had one. So after learning what I needed to learn, I started the process of getting my business license, and website done and finding vendors that fit the looks and styles I was going for. Then finally it was time to launch Boseu Leidi Boutique (Boss Lady Boutique) It is very much so something I am very proud of because it’s one I have done on my own with the love and support of my wife. April 2022 my baby went live.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No hasn’t been a smooth process at all. Considering my wife and I both have corporate jobs as well as a long-running podcast on BlackInk Radio that we do every week. So the challenge of trying to balance what’s more important was definitely one I struggled with. The financial side of starting a boutique with purchasing merchandise in advance, licensing, websites, advertising, etc. it definitely was something I had to plan for to ensure I wasn’t jumping the gun with everything else we have going on. But I am a very determined women. When I put my mind to something I do it! So I planned accordingly no matter how long it took me to do it my plan I put in place was going to have my boutique launched within a year from last year.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In my corporate job, I am a supervisor with a well-known pest control company. I have been with them for some time now and although I love my job I am hoping and praying one day I can retire from them and open my storefront in the midtown area. I am also known for having a relationship podcast with my wife on BlackInk Radio. We have had our show for 2 years now so many know me from our podcast as well as us being cast members on the new reality show Women in the Life that will soon be aired on Tubi tv and I am also on the board of Atlanta Black Pride committee. So outside of my corporate job I have quite a bit of other things I enjoy doing and are involved in.

What makes you happy?
My family makes me happy!! My kids are my joy. I have four beautiful babies. 27, 23, 17 and 9 along with a stepdaughter that I consider mine who is 14. My wife is my best friend. We have been together ten years married four years this month in May. She is my peace and my voice of reason lol…. My family is the reason for me pushing and working as hard as I do. They all are my reasons.
