Meet Jania Carter of Kapillum Palace

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jania Carter.

Hi Jania, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been interested in doing hair. Just growing up and walking in the kitchen, seeing my mom and her friends all enjoying themselves while my mom is doing one of their heads. Hair has just always been surrounded with good vibes at least for me, but honestly, I didn’t really get into hair until about two years ago. It was one of those moments where I knew I wanted to really make it in the world, but I didn’t know what I truly wanted to do. I can precisely recall every day telling myself I don’t know what it is, but whatever it is I just want to be HAPPY WITH IT. I wanted to know every day once it was time to start my occupation, I knew I was going to feel good about what I was doing, like when you get a new outfit for school and you can’t even sleep the night before because you are so ready to just go show off that little fit LOL. That’s what I wanted for me, and that’s exactly what I went for. However, I STILL DIDN’T KNOW WHAT I WANTED TO DO LOL. So, here I am young but determined on a mission to find my own way in life. When I say I had literally tried it ALL (we not even gonna go there lol), but the answer was right there in my face the whole time. Now… It took me some time I will say that, but I kept my faith in God and my eyes on the prize. And here I am, in my very first magazine. I may not have the most clients or be EXACTLY where I want to be in this moment, but I am blessed and surely on my way.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey has not been easy, but it was never intended to be. If it was easy everyone would be doing it. There are a lot of things that goes into running a business and keeping it going. Remind you I chose to do things my way which didn’t make it any better for me. Besides me being an introvert trying to brand myself and build clientele which is very hard being that I wasn’t really socially active, I had a couple of friends that were already doing good in the hair business (shoutout to them), so things I didn’t know I would look to them for help. I never expected it but that’s where I went wrong because you sometimes think people are being stiff when in all actuality it’s not that. As time went on I realized how much time, dedication, and love they put into perfecting their craft and figuring things out all on their own, and I was at that point where I was doing the same thing, so I started to understand them more and respect them more as just conducting business.

We’ve been impressed with Kapillum Palace, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Here at Kapillum Palace, I sell some of the best virgin and raw human hair in the city for an even better price. I also specialize in the installation of lace wigs, and hair services. I have been a legally established business for about a year now. My vibe alone and the way I treat every customer as if they were family set me aside from others. Nowadays, most stylists are just out there for the money, but I truly care about what I do so I not only treat your hair like royalty, I try to connect with my clients on a different level. Once you leave my chair, you will feel like we’ve known each other forever, but when I hand you that mirror to see your HAIR !! You’re going to fall in love LOL. I love the fact that I am still building a name for myself and branding, but despite all obstacles thrown at me, I know God has set me on the path to success. So, I keep my head up and I keep going. As far as my brand goes I’m truly just am proud of it all, cause nobody knows how hard I had to work to get where I am now, to be able to say (My Business), something that I have created is getting recognition. It’s the only motivation for me to go harder and come stronger.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
