Hi Ella, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The Plaid Picnic Company started as a way to provide a luxe experience without spending a fortune. I had a baby during the midst of covid and wanted a way to celebrate and introduce him to family and friends without risking his health and making sure everyone else was comfortable. The perfect solution came to mind, an outdoor picnic party where we could be in the fresh air! I wanted to host the event but struggled to find a company that gave me everything I was looking for within a reasonable cost. I knew this was something I could do and The Plaid Picnic Company was born. A company that provides luxury curated events big or small to fit any size budget!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business with a newborn was certainly not easy. Honestly building any business from the ground up is challenging but I knew it was something I could do and stuck to it. I had the support of family and friends and used that as my motivation. I have always been creative and just needed something to put all of that creativity into. Marketing and social media for hours a day is certainly one of the most challenging aspects but also allows me to be creative and put my own spin on it. Getting your name out as a new business is one of the most important things so this is where I really focus a lot of energy. Again, doing this while taking care of a newborn is challenging but I was always up to the task. However, it is always worth it when clients come back to me and tell me what a magical experience they had and they can’t wait to do it again!

The Plaid Picnic Company is a woman-owned luxury event company that specializes in curated events. We do all sorts of events such as baby showers, bridal showers, bridal luncheons, elopements, birthdays, anniversaries, proposals, and much more. We are known for our luxury-styled picnics, which are curated specially for every client but we also cater to larger themed parties and events. We specialize in creating events that our clients will remember for a lifetime and ensure that no detail is overlooked. We partner with many local businesses to provide different offerings for our events such as flowers, cookies, donuts, custom signs, and much more. The Plaid Picnic Company has a goal of making picnic-style events popular and affordable for all. We give every event one hundred percent and take pride in what we do.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
As a woman-owned business, it has certainly been challenging to find footing in the community. There are many other women-owned businesses in the area who have been so supportive of us and helped us to grow. However, I do have to give credit to my mom, my mentor. She has been with me from the very beginning even helping me come up with the name for The Plaid Picnic Company. Even pushing me to get an LLC for the business. She has helped me with most of the events and has also been a creative mind for some of our more custom events such as an Alice in Wonderland-themed first birthday. I could not have started this business without her help and support. To this day she helps with events and comes up with new ideas! I also have many clients who have come back for multiple events for many occasions and who put our name out there to their friends and families. We could not do this without such amazing clients who put their trust in us to curate their events!
