Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
To achieve everything that I have done has not been easy., I have a rare eye disorder called Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome also known as VKH which has caused temporary blindness at times especially in 1996. Then in 1999 gave birth to a son with autism followed by finding pre-breast cancer cells in the right breast in 2003 and again in 2006 during which time I was in nursing school. I later went on and enrolled in Orthopedics later to find I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. Needless to say, I have had my share of challenges. However, I had an amazing father name Alex Readus Jr that taught me never to give up that nothing comes to a dreamer but a nightmare and if you don’t wake up and control your life, you will suffer nothing but the nightmare of a life you have decided to give up on.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about GC4 Enterprises Publishing and Consulting Firm?
I own and run a publication firm that started from being rejected to do the types of books I wanted to do. We specialize in helping individuals like myself that have difficulty getting into mainstream publishing. I help authors with all aspects of their books from cover design, ISBN assignment, the layout of their books, coaching, printing, branding and marketing. We also assist authors in getting exposure and how to sell their books. We currently have over 10 different authors selling their books on Walmart Marketplace along with Amazon and PayPal. For the beginning author that don’t know know how to start a book we offer a one on one personal liaisons to help them write the book as well as offering ghostwriting services.
We are most proud of our new magazine called Greatness literary Magazine which we just launched last year that comes twice a year that gives authors, musicians, artists and advertisers space to promote themselves. We feel what sets us apart from other publications is the one stop shopping for a new author or an experienced author to learn more about producing and promoting a book to the market. We teach our clients to become business owners of their books and brand.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Yes, I see a lot more self-publishing authors. I think the traditional publishing houses will need to learn how to accommodate the author that wants more control over how they want their represented and understand that social media is affecting how readers want to interact with authors.
