Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Myrick.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
About five years ago, I went through a program called “AMTC” (Actors, Models, and Talent for Christ). I have been singing my whole life and had been wanting to pursue a career in music. When my mother-in-law told me about AMTC, I knew I had to audition. In this program, I auditioned and then was accepted to attend workshops, training, and ultimately to attend a showcase in a major city where I would meet and perform for dozens of the nation’s most renowned talent scouts and talent agencies. I was expecting to perform for a music talent scout, and I would be on my way in my singing career. However, throughout this process, I was scouted as a fashion model. Especially in my adult years, people would always tell me I should model, but I never took it seriously. After a lot of prayers, it became clear that a modeling career is the direction I needed to move toward. At the time, I was living in Missouri. In order to really pursue a career in this field, my husband and I knew we needed to move to a major hub city. 2.5 years ago, we relocated to the Atlanta area. We are loving building our lives here in Georgia. I am still singing, acting, and modeling.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. As I mentioned before, I was trying to make strides in the modeling, acting, and music world in Missouri. It really wasn’t working, and I felt really stuck. That is why my husband and I decided to relocate. Being here hasn’t been easy either though. Five months after we moved to Atlanta, COVID-19 shut the world down. Up until that point, I was meeting with several different talent agencies in the area and felt like I was really starting to establish a space for myself in the industry. Also, the entertainment industry in general holds more rejections than not. Rejection is never easy. However, ever since restrictions have lifted more and more, I have been able to network with some really great people in the industry.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Freelance Creative. This includes modeling, singing, voice acting/acting. I enjoy creating art with people. My primary focus is modeling. I have experience doing runway, print, e-comm, fashion editorial, commercials. I really enjoy doing more commercial or print modeling because I feel like my true personality can shine through. I enjoy working with local small businesses, boutiques, and photographers. I am very proud of how far I’ve come with posing and feeling more confident in front of the camera. I am all about body positivity and being body inclusive: beauty at any size. My hope is that my work will help other people feel more confident in themselves and in their own bodies. I want businesses, creatives, and potential clients to know that I am reliable, professional, respectful, personable, and I truly enjoy what I do.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, you could usually find me playing with animals or rehearsing for my next big Broadway musical (in my room! ha!). I used to always say that I would “be on Broadway” when I grew up. I would still love to do that. I enjoyed watching movie musicals way more than cartoons or really anything else. My personality as a child was quirky, creative, and outgoing. I like to think I am still that way. Being an adult is overrated!
