Hi Hillary, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Travel has been in my blood since I can remember. Growing up in Southwest Atlanta I was exposed to travel at a very young age, my grandfather was a Tuskegee airmen so his stories always fascinated me, and the exposure was unmatched. I attended Pebblebrook high school in Cobb county class of 2003. Then matriculated thru Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee. Class of 2007, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology. Upon graduation, I returned back to Atlanta to find a purpose. About two years later I started my avaiation career (naturally, lol) as a flight attendant for a major airline and I have been in the industry ever since going on 12 years. My first personal international trip was to Paris, France in 2012, once I made that trip I never looked back. Since then I’ve been to Thailand, Dubai, and Australia just to name a few the list goes on. Becoming a travel consultant with my own agency was always a dream of mine. Helping people experience the love of travel is something I wanted to share as well as teach others you can experience travel on any budget. I started my agency On The Fly Travel in January,2020 and then Covid hit!! As we know putting my industry to a standstill. But that has not deterred me,here we are in 2022 and On The Fly travel is thriving. My goal is to bring travel to everyone no matter the budget wherever you want to be in the world On The Fly Travel will make it happen.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Having a travel agency during a pandemic has not been smooth, lol. When the pandemic first hit every thing travel as we know was at a standstill. I choose the perfect year to start a travel business….But the industry is starting to recooperate and people are ready to travel and On The Fly is ready with open arms!!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
On The Fly travel is a travel consulting agency, specializing in budget-friendly travel. Personalization is important, we book everything from honeymoons, girls /guys trips, baecations. You want to go we handle it. When booking with On The Fly Travel all you do is show up all the work is done. Maximize your vacation with no worries about the small or big stuff. Booking trips, and creating memories is the motto. Besides being a black female-owned business standing apart is natural, personal one on one time is giving to each client. As a Travel consultant, I always want to do little extra things to make sure that my clients have thoroughly enjoyed their experience and saw value in using my services. From the day you book to the day you return home from your trip, I got you!! Starting On The Fly has brought so much value, the ability to bring travel to clients who might have never traveled otherwise due to budgets, priceless…
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was an only child and shy Hanging around my cousins growing up in the S.W..A.T.S helped me break out of my shell but once I did the silly, confident young lady came to the forefront. I am a trained violinist been playing since the age of nine (little known fact, lol). Once I hit high school I was a model student academically and a PHS variety cheerleader, which really but the shy side of me away. Once I entered Tennessee State University I thrived the HBCU experience is unmatched!! Growing up I just wanted to be happy and successful in life and that still hasn’t changed in adulthood.
