Check Out Vince Waters Jr.’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vince Waters Jr.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been around music my entire life! My father is an extremely talented drummer, and my grandfather is also extremely gifted with music as he plays many instruments and has been a musical instructor for many years and achieved many accomplishments for his works. I’ve had the blessing to witness both of them travel the nation with their bands and do live shows at some big events. Music has always been in my blood.

My musical journey began in 2003 back in my hometown Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where I was born and raised. This is where I started rapping in cyphers at school, making beats on the table, then making beats on my PlayStation (MTV Music Generator) and then finally getting introduced to FL Studio, which is the software I use to make my beats today.

After high school, I was able to gain a lot of exposure for myself after achieving the “PRODUCER OF THE YEAR” award for the 2015 Central Pennsylvania Music Awards.

In 2016, I started working at a recording studio in Harrisburg named Professional Studios as an Audio Engineer. After 4 years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with artists such as Lil Rekk, Relle Bey, Master P, Dex Lauper and B La B, just to name a few.

In 2020, I started traveling to Atlanta for vacations because I’ve always loved the culture, and began to build great relationships and business opportunities here.

Ultimately, it was the Southern Hospitality, the food and the unwavering amount of opportunities Atlanta has to offer that brought me here.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road at all.

First of all, growing up in poverty is a struggle in itself. Not having the finances to do what you want to do is one thing, but not having the finances to do what you need to do is another. I’m not new to the lifestyle of having my bills cut off or not having enough clothes that fit me when I was in school.

As a result, after I graduated high school I began to hustle on the side to ease the struggle a little bit and ended up getting myself in a whirlwind of trouble. They say once you’re in the “system”, it’s hard to get out, and that’s true. I’ve spent years of my life on probation, a few months in prison, and thousands of dollars on court costs/fees, fines, lawyers, etc. After going through so much trouble and caring about my future, I never turned back to the streets once I got my life back on track.

I can’t forget to mention that I had my first child at the age of 19. Obviously, I was still a child myself. Loving my son was easy, but taking care of him on a consistent basis financially was the hard part. Everything I mentioned above, unfortunately, my son had to in some way or another go through it with me. I was young and dumb, living the faster life to take care of my responsibilities, with my son being the biggest one. It broke my heart when I couldn’t spend time with him anymore and he had to see me behind bars. He’s the biggest reason why I decided to turn my life around.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Music Producer, Audio Engineer, Songwriter, Publisher, and Entrepreneur. I even work in the Artist Development/Artist Management areas. I specialize in Audio Engineering and Music Production, but with 20 years of experience, I’m well-rounded in all aspects of music and the business of it.

One of my biggest dreams was just to make it in the music industry, and I’ve accomplished that. With hard work, dedication, and God by my side, I was able to land a position with ‘No Limit Forever Records’ as a Music Producer.

My personality, passion for music, and work ethic are what seem to set me apart from others.

Artists tell me all the time how much they appreciate how attentive I am to their music or sound. I hit the money without them having to tell me what to do.

I also have 15+ years of customer service experience so my communication skills are top-tier. I’m very patient and I’m a great listener. It’s very easy to get along with me and I’m known as one of the most efficient engineers to get the job done.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck, but I do believe in BLESSINGS.

Ever since I started creating music I’ve put my all into it, but things didn’t really start turning around for me until I dedicated my life to God. That goes for my personal life and my business life.

I’m healthy, engaged to a beautiful woman of God, blessed with 5 amazing children, and I’m living up to my wildest dreams!

I highly encourage everyone to stay as spiritually grounded as possible, because that’s how you get BLESSED by the best.
