Daily Inspiration: Meet Tay Spencer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tay Spencer.

Tay, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Honestly, it all started in my college dorm! My friends hinted at a gift that I didn’t even know existed. I mean I always loved my sense of style and the way I expressed myself. I had no idea the fashion advice I would give was trustworthy enough to validate or even came close to solidifying someone else’s style. I remember this one friend I had in college, she was preparing for a job interview and asked if I would help her pick out an outfit then it all started from there. I would style my friends just for fun not realizing later it would soon become the career I would pursue.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all, but it was the most rewarding. Nothing in life is easy. I wish today’s generation would just get rid of the superficial stereotype of quick, fast, and easy. I dropped out of nursing school when I fully discovered my passion, that in itself was a challenge. There was no guide or a blueprint handy when it came time to navigate that decision. I had to go with what I knew and what I believed to be true for my life. Then I had to overcome my toughest critic, me!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
A woman of many trades, if I could do it all I would that’s how a creative mindset works. We live to create! No, but seriously I’m a full-time wardrobe stylist, and full-time boutique store manager, I also dip into interior design from time to time, my new thing now is event planning I would love to tap into that industry. I also plan to bring back my very own women’s online boutique. I’m most proud of making it this far, I grew up in a small town so my trade, line of work rather, was foreign there. I stay true to my calling. I know God created me to do a specific thing in the world, so I trust my dopeness and what I contribute to the fashion industry at large. In other words, I flourish in my lane and I live my life for an audience of one, GOD.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’m a huge procrastinator and my world lately has become the perfect balance of organized chaos! So much so that at the end of my FIRST session with my therapist she recommended that I go buy a planner!
