Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaundra Cooley.
Hi Shaundra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m a Licensed Esthetician and recent graduate 🎓 of Elaine Sterling Institute (The best beauty school in GA) where it all started. I love skincare and it’s been my daily routine since a teenager. Growing up til age 31. I spent my life helping my single mom take care of my two siblings who battled with Sickle Cell Anemia.
My sister passed away in 2018 and my brother passed away in 2021. From that exact moment I knew I needed a change and I was very unhappy with myself and my life. So I became a mother of a healthy baby boy. Still in that stage of helping others and not myself. Because that’s all I knew how to do. April 2021 I had a talk with God like hey Lord help me identify my gift something that I birthed to fulfil & I can get up and do with no problem and that was keeping my skin up to part. By May 2021 I enrolled in Esthetician school. Attending Elaine Sterling and meeting incredible instructors and my Estie besties. I felt right at home. Everything was easy and wasn’t easy if you understand me. Attending school for 9 months God showed me how my gift of helping others eventually led me to my calling which I am still helping others by taking care of their skin. Bringing out the beauty in everyone and helping others achieve skincare goals. After Graduation and passing my Stateboard tests.I brought my suite and became a Solo Esthetician of my own Shop named Cooley Esthetics Bar. Located on the Southside of Atlanta because that’s where im from and it’s time we bring back successful businesses on this side of town.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Lol… The struggles. Everyday is a struggle being a single mom and surviving grief. The ups and downs just wanting to give up on life but can’t give up because after watching all what my siblings had to go thru daily. I’d be too weak to just give up. If I give up that mean the devil has won and I refuse to let him win after all I went thru, after all they went thru. That’s why when I wake up I say the Lord’s prayer everyday with my son and I meditate on this Bible verse Roman 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is, his good,pleasing and perfect will. Despite calamity I trust that God still has a plan for me and its working for my good & building up my testimony.
We’ve been impressed with Cooley Esthetics Bar, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Cooley Esthetics Bar is a Healthy Face and Body Spa retreat. I’m a Licensed Esthetician and I specialize in chemical peels,dermaplaning,Lip blushing, Microdermabrasions, LED acne therapy, Body Wraps, microcurrent,hair removal, Anti-aging and skin brightening facials, Feet,Back and Booty facials. I’m known for my Gentleman’s facials including high frequency. What set me apart from other Estheticians is my gift of caring when every client sit on table I do my best to follow all safety protocols and what best products are best for my clients skin type and not what they want but more of what they need. I’m most proud of my services named after my brother The Jamar ultimate back treatment with hot stones. It’s the most relaxing because of the massages in that treatment most people love massages. I want future clients to know I’m not the regular Esthetician. I truly care about achieving your skincare goals. I follow all safety and sanitation procedures.
What were you like growing up?
Im a new age Church girl. Meaning I human and at some point we all come up short but overall mean good. Mom is a minister so I spent five days a week at church. Singing in choir and most church activities. Most people call me by my last name Cooley. I’ve always been pretty much laid back which is why my spa room is designed as a beach scenery. Relaxing and reserved never doing too much. My interests has always been about beauty. Whether it’s braiding hair or keeping my skin up to part I’m all about being beautiful inside and out.
