Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Goodrich.
Nancy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started 13 years ago in March as Nancy G’s Cafe, I worked by myself for 8 years. My husband started working with me 4 years ago. Last year, we rebranded as Southern Bistro to refresh. We are a casual, family-friendly restaurant. We offer a doogie menu on the patio. The neighborhood a has played a big part in helping me grow.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. The biggest challenge I had was opening a restaurant in a space that had a reputation of being a bad location, and not having people believe in me. I have been persistent, marketed to the community, and have become a neighborhood gathering place.
Southern Bistro – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a casual family dining restaurant serving American food with a Southern twist. The staff knows most of our guests by name and vice versa. I am proud of keeping loyal employees, and what we have become to the neighborhood. I think we treat everyone like family and that sets us apart from other restaurants. We make our guests feel special, and that goes a long way. I am proud of my employees for caring about this place so much.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Just still being here makes me proud. People telling me that they are glad I am a part of their lives in the neighborhood.
