Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaimie Steck.
Hi Jaimie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
You could say I was ready for the stage from the moment I was born. I started in the entertainment industry at three days old when I was featured in a local news story about healthy newborns. From the moment I started dancing around my living room as a child creating full-length jukebox musicals to my favorite Disney stars albums I know singing and performing was the calling I had to answer. Finally, in 2019, the light started to shine. I released my first single, Full Moon in January of 2019, and up to my most recent release, a cover song of ‘Bye Bye Bye’ by *NSYNC and ‘Boys’ by Britney Spears, I have released eight singles and five full production music videos independently.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As an independent artist, from the very beginning, I have strived to create visuals and performances equal, or as close to equal, as I can to what you would get from a label or team. I’ve never asked for discounts, or for those who worked for me to take a pay cut to achieve my vision. I’ve worked as hard as possible in my everyday work life to fully fund every music video, production, and vision to the fullest extent and to make sure those around me were properly taken care of. It can be hard sometimes not having a safety net to fall back on in hard financial times like the pandemic, but this is my dream, and I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure it comes true with no interruptions.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My main goal in the music industry is to bring back the versatility and showmanship we adored when watching the greats. Compared to the likes of Britney Spears, Madonna, and Janet Jackson. Music had a certain spark back in the late 90s/early 2000s where you could turn on an award show and know you were in for a spectacular show of performance!
I miss it. I know the world misses it. And I’m determined to bring it back full force.
With the release of eight singles, I’ve acquired hundreds of thousands of listeners both on Spotify and YouTube Music Videos.
I would say my single, Boomerang, perfectly encapsulates the showmanship I plan to offer the industry, from my co-writing the empowering pop anthem to fully choreographing and conceptualizing the music video from start to finish.
Along with my passion to deliver a good performance, I also maintain the example of being unapologetically yourself. I believe in women empowerment and to never let the opinions of others deter you from wearing what you want, saying what you need, and doing what feels right.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Do it. Take the chance, take the gig, take the lessons, do whatever it takes to live the dream you have set for your life. There’s no reason you shouldn’t be pursuing the career of your dreams. It won’t be easy all the time, you’ll have to settle on normal everyday tasks to eventually build up to it, and it’s not going to happen overnight, but everyone deserves to live the life they’ve always wanted, and the first step to making your dreams a reality is: YOU.
