Check Out Samantha Deaven’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Deaven.

Hi Samantha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I got started with photography after I had my baby, Maverick. He was the eye-opening moment that can and needed to take pictures of him, which then opened the door to take pictures of others. I also had a lot of experience in watching my mom take photos, she owns her own business, Joanna NG Photography. Growing up it was something my mom built and I watched her grow as I grew. It was such an empowering experience, now she has a fully running company that has grown into more than I ever imagined it to be.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has honestly not been the smoothest of roads for me. I recently moved from Pennsylvania and I had just started to build my clientele up there. Now I am having to start over here in Lawrenceville, which is not the hardest thing to do, but getting my name out has been difficult. Another struggle is that I am having to work a full-time job to keep up with life and that, of course, makes the business that I love taking the back burner.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love everything about photography, I love that there is so many different ways to edit or even places to take pictures. I specialize in families and lifestyle newborn sessions. I am known for how well I capture small kiddos. I love getting on the eye level of kids, you really are able to see the world through their eyes. I am proud to see how my work is used throughout people’s homes. It means so much to know that I have touched someone’s life with a photograph. I feel that the way I hold sessions, which is being totally relaxed and reminding parents that kids are kids and not to worry I will get the images they want, is what sets me apart.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love how the community comes together in Lawrenceville and celebrates different events. I feel that I haven’t lived here long enough to say what is not good about it. It has been such a wonderful experience and how kind people always lift my spirits up.

Pricing:

  • For a family session it is starting at $250
  • For a lifestyle newborn it is starting out at $400
