Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawnee Coward.
Hi Shawnee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I dreamt of having a cafe when I was a teenager. Never did I believe that my dreams would come true. Now, I own a vegan bakery and cafe in Lilburn GA. As a small business owner, I am helping other small business owners and helping my customers to understand what it means to be vegan.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has not been smooth, however, it has been worthwhile. The biggest struggle has been the balance between being a business owner and a mother & wife. I have been an entrepreneur for over 15 years, but owning a brick and mortar business definitely has its’ challenges.

I love to create new dishes and new flavors. I specialize in vegan sweets and savory dishes. I am known for making everything from scratch…everything.
I am most proud of myself for pushing through all of the pain and negativity.
I do not compare myself to anyone else but to earlier versions of myself. I am always discovering ways to be a better person, business owner, boss, mother, and wife.
I believe that my heart sets me apart from others–I want everyone to win!
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck–but I do believe in faith, dedication, and hard work. These three things have allowed me to build and grow a successful business.
