Today we’d like to introduce you to Remington Huggins.
Hi Remington, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Since I was in Elementary school, I knew I wanted to be an attorney. I typically get asked if my father or anybody else in my family is an attorney and the answer is no. It has just been something that intrigued me even at a young age to pursue.
I attended South Forsyth High School in Cumming, GA (I’m a hometown guy) and because I always knew I wanted to be an attorney I made sure I had great grades in High School. My high school G.P.A offered me the HOPE scholarship at Georgia Southern University. Also, while at South Forsyth High School I was the only 4-year letterman in football and was named team captain. The Forsyth County News named my All-County two years in a row. I also played baseball, basketball and ran track at South Forsyth. Further, I was also on student counsel for my grade.
Throughout my time at Georgia Southern University I kept my academic scholarship while working as a legal assistant for the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit Court in Statesboro, GA. After graduating, I decided to live close to the beach (literally 100 yards away from the ocean) by attending Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, FL. After graduating law school and passing the bar I immediately started practicing law in the field of Property Insurance Litigation. I headed the Atlanta office for the law firm I worked at and property insurance litigation was 100% of our work. After being in the property insurance field for a couple of years, I decided to take a leap of faith and start my own law firm. Therefore, in 2019 I started the Huggins Law Firm, LLC….Fast forward three years later and the Huggins Law Firm is now the largest property insurance litigation law firm in the entire state of Georgia. The Huggins Law Firm has assisted in collecting tens of millions of dollars in underpaid or denied insurance claims. These claims include: Hail, Hurricane, Fire, Flood, Theft, Pipe Burst, Business Interruption, and Property Theft.
Also, earlier this year I was asked to be the main advocating attorney for Georgia House Bill 1310. The objective of this bill was to provide policyholders across the state of Georgia more rights during the adjustment of their property insurance claim. This all was accomplished because I took a gamble on myself. I encourage everyone to take a gamble on yourself and pursue your dreams or you will always ask yourself “what if?”.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I first started, I was the only employee for Huggins Law Firm. Therefore, I was the secretary, paralegal, marketing manager, and attorney so many hours and growing pains happened. Also, it took a while to obtain a client and referral base. It takes some time to build up a reputation in the legal field so there were countless hours working to accomplish a reputation and be a successful law firm. Now, Huggins Law Firm is the largest plaintiff’s first-party property insurance law firm in the state of Georgia.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I was the Vice President of the prior law firm I worked at with a steady income. However, I always knew I wanted to start my own law firm. I knew the only way for me to accomplish this goal was by taking a massive risk by leaving my prior law firm and starting my own law firm. Not many people would have taken the risk of leaving a job title of Vice President to start their own law firm, but it was 100% the best career decision of my life and I’m so glad I “bit the bullet” and took the risk because it has been life-changing.
