Today we would like to introduce you to Nine on Main.
The story starts with Ryan Taylor. Ryan got started in construction at the early age of 14 working alongside his father who was supervising large commercial projects across Georgia. By 23, Ryan had started his career and was quickly recognized for his innate ability to solve the unsolvable. When the Saint Regis Hotel in Buckhead wanted to build a roof-top ice-skating rink, everyone said it couldn’t be done except for Ryan who, despite never building one, figured it out. In 2011 Coca-Cola was advised by 15 engineers that hanging a 26-story projection screen on their Midtown headquarters to celebrate their 125th anniversary would be too costly and impractical, but again Ryan made it happen.
A few years later, Ryan partnered with Micah Purvis to create All Square Contracting, an award-winning general contracting company specializing in high-end residential and light commercial construction. Together Ryan and Micah went on to renovate and build luxury homes across Atlanta, the North Georgia suburbs and Lake Lanier.
After years of working with Architectural and Interior Designers and sourcing cabinetry for All Square’s projects, Ryan and Micah started to notice a critical issue with the pre-construction process. It was realized that many design professionals were not taking cost into account until the plans were finalized. This resulted in aggravated homeowners, expensive re-designs, and oftentimes a stalled or canceled project.
The solution was obvious – provide cost estimates throughout the pre-construction process to help drive the design. Unfortunately, it was difficult to find Architectural and Interior Designers who would be willing to adjust their process to incorporate periodic budget evaluations. Ryan, seeing solutions in every problem, declared the answer – “Let’s just start our own design firm.”
So, at the height of the Pandemic, Ryan and Micah, together with two additional partners, Justin Mizell and Zach Rubin, began to develop the start-up. Micah and Ryan, bringing their knowledge of construction and the resources of All Square Contracting, and Justin and Zach bringing their expertise of Architectural and Interior design launched Nine on Main.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The biggest challenge we’ve faced is breaking into an already crowded market, but thanks to our vast network within our industry and some well-placed marketing and advertising we have been able to significantly exceed our initial projections for 2022. This has afforded us the ability to grow our team faster and start construction on our design center at our location in Roswell.

Process. Everyone assumes that a design firm should lead with creativity… but Process is what makes the difference between a mediocre design and an exceptional one. Our process encourages collaboration between our design teams and our in-house construction experts. It also ensures that we effectively communicate design intent as we formulate the final design through a process of iteration. Whether our Architectural Designer is working to design a floor plan or an addition, or our Interior Design team is putting together a finish schedule and cabinet design, we use our process to control the tempo of a project and the quality of the design output. After all, the whole purpose of the pre-construction process is to plan and detail every element that will go into your home to ensure that you get exactly what you want.
