Meet Rachel Goldberg of empower yoga in Marietta and Emory

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Goldberg.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started yoga 12 years ago when a college friend came to visit me in DC. She had recently discovered yoga and thought I would love it too! She was right! I fell in love with the feeling of moving and breathing, for the first time I found something that could get me out of my mind. Shortly after falling in love with yoga, I moved to Atlanta.

Moving with two small children was a challenge, and quickly I realized how much I missed my yoga community.

Unfortunately, there was not a studio nearby so I would travel in town. This made it hard to have a regular yoga practice. I then decided that East Cobb needed a yoga studio. I decided to get my 200-hour teaching certification and that I would take a leap of faith and open a yoga studio. Opening empower has been one of the greatest gifts in my life. It brings me joy each time I enter the space, whether to practice or lead a practice.

The community is amazing and so many wonderful relationships have been formed. My business partner Anna decided she was going to move in town, so about one year ago we opened our second location at Emory Point, so we could build another amazing community in town.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been an exciting road. Lots of hard work, sweat, and some tears. But every bit of it has been worth it! I wouldn’t change it for anything. Fortunately, we have been very lucky and both studios continue to grow and bring us great joy and success.

empower yoga, LLC – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Empower Yoga is a heated vinyasa yoga studio. We specialize in power yoga. Yoga to empower people to step out of their comfort zone and take great risks on and off their mat. We also offer yin yoga, a deep stretch, and weekly meditation. I am most proud of our staff and the community we have created. We do a wonderful job of making each person who walks through our doors feel welcome and at ease. We know everyone and what is going in their life, what empowers them to be a “yes”!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is feeling fulfilled each day. No matter how many people enter your doors knowing you are making a difference each day.
