Rising Stars: Meet Eugenia Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eugenia Davis.

Hi Eugenia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have a long story… well, I’ll start by saying my God is good. I moved to Atlanta from Miami in 2011 with my now ex-husband. I went to beauty school in 2013 and became a licensed Cosmetologist. I worked in my house for some time and two different salons in Atlanta. In 2015, I started as a booth rental at Salon Vibe in Fairburn, GA. As I began to make Salon Vibe my home to start my hair career, I spoke to God about becoming the owner one day. In 2018, I filed for a divorce and became a single mom of two kids, a 16 years old and a six years old. Homeless and had no car. Once my divorce was final and I was award a lump some of money and was stuck between buying a house or a business because to previous owner presented an offer to purchase the salon I was working in. So, I decided to buy a house first. Although we were staying with friends and family, my kids needed their own space. In 2020, myself and the owner of Salon Vibe discussed buying the salon again and I took the offer aon a leap of Faith, not knowing COVID was right around the corner! Well, once again I spoke to my God and he said, “what’s for you is for you.” Bought the salon anyway, we had to shut down once COVID hit and here it is two years later I am Blessed to still be up and running my salon. The new name is Salon Vibez because I like the name and just added a “Z.” Hope my story inspires you to continue to the next step.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, it wasn’t a smooth road like I mentioned before. When I purchased the salon of 2020 signed the deal in January, COVID hit two months later. We had to shut down the salon for two months. That was the struggle.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Well, I am a Hairstylist, I own a hair extensions line. I specialize in natural hair, hair extensions and hair coloring. I’m best known for my business ethic first, and when it comes to the beauty industry, I’m known for my weaves. I’m most proud of coming from my struggle during my divorce and where I am today as a business owner. What sets me or my Salon apart from others is the hard work and we put in as a team to work together. We do all services when it comes to hair, along with shampoos, most stylists don’t shampoo hair anymore. We provide hair waxing, facials, lashes and body contouring in my salon.

How do you think about happiness?
I love doing what I do. Making women look fabulous and well put together by offering beauty tips as well. More importantly, having the freedom to spend time with my children makes me happy.
