Meet Zoe Lampru Gomez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zoe Lampru Gomez.

Hi Zoe, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in Caracas, Venezuela but raised in Miami, Florida. My move to Atlanta came with my acceptance to Emory University. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2017 and worked my entire career in the Surgical Transplant Intensive Care Unit. Around a year ago, I began to look at new opportunities and do some research on how I could combine my interests with my career. I started to look into the field of aesthetic dermatology and began to look into the certification and licensing opportunities. At around the same time, I also began to delve into my love of fitness and began to look at fitness certifications so I could do what I love and work at the same time. I believe that finally taking the risk to begin to look into my own interests and reach outside of what I was comfortable in paid off tenfold. Shortly after my research, I took my first big step and completed my Strong Nation Instructor certification. After that, I was reconnected with a college friend and was presented with the opportunity to work with a new aesthetic dermatology clinic opening up in Buckhead. Laseraway was exactly what I had been looking for. With 80+ different locations across the country at the time (there are over 90 locations now) and a reputation for quality treatments and services, the interview could not have come at a better time. The clinic has now been open in Buckhead since January, and in the past six months, we have treated 100s of incredible patients and people. We offer Laser Hair Removal, Laser Tattoo Removal, Laser Facials (Clear & Brilliant, IPL), Cool sculpting, Thermage, Botox/Xeomin, and fillers (Juvederm, Revanesse).

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Moving to Atlanta from Miami was not the easiest transition. The culture shock was huge and more so in a PWI. It made me 1000x more appreciative of my family and forced me to find a family here. Ten years later, I can wholeheartedly say I love Atlanta and my husband and I have made a home of GA. I have found so many amazing people and places in GA, and the Latinx culture has grown so much here. It has been very beautiful to see.

At Emory, I started off on the Pre-Med track like most first-generation Latinx students because my family felt so much pride in having me become a Doctor. However, the more I studied and was able to ask questions, the more I realized that that was not the lifestyle I wanted. I looked into Nursing and fell in love because of the patient involvement and versatility. Changing my mind was one of the best decisions I ever made; however, at the time it felt like a whole lot of disappointment from my family and myself.

Finding my GA family was also not an easy task. I have had my fair share of unhealthy friendships and abusive relationships. Learning how to find myself in them has taught me so much and pulling myself out made me so much stronger. The people in my life now have proved true through every season of my life and I am so blessed to have them.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Registered Nurse and currently work at Laseraway, the number one aesthetic dermatology clinic in the country. Our clinic is located in Buckhead, with new locations coming soon. We offer a variety of aesthetic procedures such as Laser Hair Removal, Laser Tattoo Removal, IPL, Clear & Brilliant Facials, Botox, Xeomin, Fillers, Cool sculpting and Thermage. We specialize in skincare and skin fitness to ensure that you feel and look your best.

I am also a Strong by Zumba Instructor and love fitness and working towards your strongest self every day. Working out is stress relief and is a great way to enhance your body and brain’s oxygen capacity. Alzheimer’s runs in my family so making sure I am physically and mentally fit are very important to me.

Thirdly, I partner with an amazing vegan hair care, skin care, and wellness company, whose products were all created by a scientific board of doctors and specialists. My partnership has given me the best hair and skin of my life and has allowed me an extra stream of income.

I am most proud of the decisions I have made in my professional life. Most people do not take risks because of discomfort or fear, but they fail to understand that that is the exact moment to take the leap. The longer you wait and pretend it is not what you want to do, the longer you postpone your happiness and success. The path I am on now is so different from where I started, but I paved it every step of the way and am so excited for what my future holds.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love how much there is to do here and the people from all over the world that you meet. I love the mild seasons, the trees, and the southern hospitality. I love barbeque and shooting the hooch. I also love the Latinx culture and scene that has grown over the past 10 years I have been here.

I really dislike the amount of violence in the city, c’mon now we are really shooting people over mayo?
