Conversations with Manny Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Manny Hill.

Hi Manny, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I started modeling back in 2017 when I worked at Hollister. During the time I would model articles of the clothing in the store and for the duration of my shifts. Then in 2019, I moved to Atlanta for college, so I was able to network with more people. However, shortly following the start of my modeling career, the COVID-19 pandemic hit. I remember it being tough to network and put myself out there so with quarantining so, I focused more on school.

This year 2022, I have been able to meet new people and do brand collab photoshoots. I just finished a brand shoot with MANSA® which is a new upcoming online black-owned luxury brand of clothing for men. I also have some castings coming up in the next coming weeks that I can’t really say much about, but I am thankful to God that I am seeing the fruits of my labor. It just really makes me think about how it felt like I used on a treadmill running and not going anywhere, but I was really on an elevator waiting to get to the floor and for the doors to open.

I started at Kennesaw State University (KSU) as a Nursing Major in 2019 then in 2021 I decided that I wanted to change my major to Psychology. I am now a senior, graduating in the fall with a B.S. in Psychology degree. I am involved with some clubs and organizations at KSU like I was the social media and recruitment chair for a volunteer organization named Circle K ®.

Lastly, I’m a Brand Ambassador for Kennesaw State University’s admissions. In short, I help recruit the incoming class of freshmen and sometimes run the admission social media account.

After I graduate this December, I am going to apply to grad school for clinical psychology and finish up some of the certifications that I am currently pursuing.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One major obstacle was the pandemic. When it first hit in 2019, I had to move back home I’m from a rural town in Georgia called Waverly Hall so it was pretty tricky having to social distance and still try to incorporate my passion for modeling in that setting. Nothing really prepared me for what COVID-19 brought with it.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Well as I’ve stated before I am a model, so I currently do my work in the fashion industry, I have worked with brands in Atlanta and online shops. I do not currently have an agency; however, I am seeking representation from an agency that matches the drive and tenacity that I bring to the industry but also has morals in every aspect.
