Today we’d like to introduce you to Algie Flagg.
Hi Algie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I got my first taste of detailing cars at the age of nine years old. Working at my uncle’s mechanic shop, I would wash the cars after he did the oil changes and he would pay me. After doing this for a few years, I started washing cars in my neighborhood. When I got older, I was hired at Fountain Carwash in Macon, GA. I worked my way up to the detail shop, there I perfected my craft for about seven years. In 2013, I was wrongly fired from Fountain Carwash. I was riding around panicking, trying to figure out how I was going to pay bills and feed my family which at the time included my pregnant wife. I met a black-owned businessman, Mike Mitchell, he owns Auto Club Professional Detailing, he gave me a chance, trained me, helped me perfect my craft even more and gave me the inspiration to start my own business. Now I am able to take care of my family by doing what I love. My goal is to eventually create jobs for young black men who were like me with no options, no one would give them that chance.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely has not been a smooth road. I had to learn what I wanted in a business and how to run a business. With the help of my wife of course. The main struggle I had especially since the pandemic was staying afloat and making a profit. Running a business on your own is hard, keeping up with overhead, managing money, and learning to prepare for weeks there is no work due to weather. I learned this on my own and I am still learning, leaning on the ones who taught me and other business owners I know for advice.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Superior Mobile Auto Detail Expert?
I am a car detailer. I clean vehicles according to my client specifications, which may include performing detailed inspections, thoroughly washing, buffing, and waxing exteriors, vacuuming, steaming, and deodorizing interiors, and painting correction. I am known in my area for providing great customer service and paying great detail when I do a vehicle. I have a vehicle looking like it is fresh off the car lot. I believe my love and enjoyment of what I do sets me apart from others because I love what I do; it reflects in my work. I am proud that I built a brand that is mine that I can share with others and eventually pass down to my son.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is detailing cars at my uncle’s shop; it made me feel like I was accomplishing something at an early age.
