Today we’d like to introduce you to Vernon Chaney.
Hi Vernon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I mean, where do I begin? The beginning? Ever since I can remember I’ve been into music growing up in Atlanta and the metropolitan area with moving so much I had most ethnic backgrounds as classmates and friends so my world view was always getting refreshed with different people growing up subsequently that would also affect my music world also, my whole life has had a soundtrack playing in the background, I would say Michael Jackson, And Chris brown made me love music with their god-like Melodies and soothing voices. Ever since then I’ve explored way more sounds and music I consider unpopular in the black community, especially with earlier rock bands like Linkin Park, Coldplay, Greenday, etc. I always liked old music just as much as new music because old music doesn’t seem as watered down as a lot of music is today.
I also played the violin in middle school and got introduced to the strings and the core of “music” and that’s where I started appreciating just sounds, in general, it made me realize with little technology, the old guys was going crazy back then with the music it’s just not popular today because of society’s view on what GOOD music is and there wasn’t any lyrics so some people are not musically inclined to even understand. Around high school times, I ran into people that was into music just as much as I am and created my core friends, and we are a close-knit group all from this area and we have the potential to make some serious moves in the music world. I just recently started to actually take making music serious within the last year and a half ago. I have so much to learn and still explore and am willing to do so much even if I never get a single play, the music will always still be playing and continue to be made! I will Be dropping a lot of music towards the end of this year all different genres because that’s what I grew up on, I’m not a one-trick pony and if you take a second to listen, you will see for yourself. If you love something, stay with it.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Sheesh, living is an obstacle in itself and trying to maintain your goals/passions is another thing, with my little brother getting shot to all my patnas being locked up at some point. Countless struggles but who cares gotta make something shake with what’s given only way to succeed!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a business owner of a trucking company and I would say I specialize in my ability to create as much opportunities for the people around me as I can and they could attest to that I’m just a family/friend tryna make a difference for my peoples and who don’t have the luxury of even reading this article.
I’m known for a lot of things mostly being me.
Most proud of my family and friends for making it work even when we probably wasn’t even supposed to, it motivates me tremendously.
What’s gonna set me apart from others is my understanding of people. I’m lowkey smarter than I look but very humble I don’t brag or boast rarely ever so I just kinda give you that feeling like “something about him is just different” type feeling.
What were you like growing up?
Shy, quiet, mostly until I was comfortable with you! people say I’m funny, I just be saying shit tbh.
Sports was a big part of growing up. I thought I was going to the NFL/NBA like everyone else, lol.
