Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Evans.
Hi Taylor, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well starting off, I was born and raised in Columbus, GA. Since a child, I have always been gifted in art and while growing up I became fascinated with makeup and all things beauty, I loved everything about it. Growing up as a kid I never knew what I wanted to be, but I just knew for a fact at a young age I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I didn’t know what I would be doing, but I knew working for somebody else just wasn’t for me. When I entered high school just like everyone else, I felt the pressures of trying to figure my whole life out once I graduated. I decided to take some time off after I graduated high school to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with my life and what I had a passion for. After speaking with a friend of mine, she talked to me about looking into the Esthetics program. Doing my own research, I decided to give it a shot and enroll to see what the program had to offer. I decided I would go to college for Esthetics to learn how to better my craft all while learning many other services. Just seeing how easily I picked things up in school & my enthusiasm of being there just confirmed I was on the right path. I loved everything about it and just how broad the career field is itself. It was then I knew the beauty industry was made for me and becoming an Esthetician was the best thing I could have done for myself.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road it has taken for me to become an esthetician and my own boss has not been easy at all, but it has been very rewarding. When I first started Esthetics school, it was in the beginning of the pandemic. There were a lot of setbacks that I was facing in order to get the full experience of my classes. Although it was a struggle from starting with virtual classes to in person. I still made the best out of the situation, and I can say I’ve had a great experience overall. I have met many great people with a passion like mine. After I graduated from esthetics school, I decided I wanted to work for myself as a solo esthetician. When I first started my business, it was super scary for me because I decided to work for myself with no clientele. I decided to step out on faith and within a month of working for myself, I noticed an increase in my clientele and the demand for my services. Working out of small studio space, I within a year have manifested my dream beauty bar on the Northside of Columbus. Although I have had many hurdles along the way I never lost faith in my capability of being great in this industry. I love my career and I love being my own boss if I had to go back in time, I wouldn’t change anything.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
THE WKND BEAUTY & ESTHETICS offers makeup services, lash extensions, micro shading, facials, and waxes. I took my passion for all things beauty and my desire to be an entrepreneur and turned it into a business to where I can be creative and help others. The skills I have learned in school and certified training has given me the ability to help those enhance their natural beauty. I am a licensed Esthetician located in Columbus, GA. What sets me apart from other beauty professionals is that I’m more diverse when it comes to achieving a certain look that a client is trying to obtain. I’m not afraid of stepping outside the box when it comes to creativity, and instead of just sticking with one service to offer to the public. I have many other services for them to choose from.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see the beauty industry constantly evolving and myself growing right along with it. I am eager to keep learning more about the industry itself and constantly learning new techniques and different services to add on to my business. There are always new trends in this field of work, and I am looking forward to seeing what’s next to come.
