Exploring Life & Business with Christina Pack of Resurgens Postpartum

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Pack.

Hi Christina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a mom of two amazing boys, ages three and one. Becoming a mom was challenging for me! I don’t have any family in Atlanta and navigating pregnancy and postpartum felt really lonely to me. While I do have a lot of friends here, I really struggled to figure out who I wanted to be as a new mother, how to care for my new baby, and how to make decisions for my growing family. During the early postpartum season with my first child, I regularly got overwhelmed when trying to research topics such as newborn sleep, breastfeeding, traveling with a baby, etc. I didn’t really feel like I had anywhere to turn other than the internet, and there were just too many answers there and it caused me to struggle to make any decisions at all. I also was really struggling physically to recover from birth and felt like I was losing my identity.

Thankfully, after far too long, I figured out what was going on with me physically and was able to seek treatment. That made a huge difference for me personally. I also started learning to trust myself and my intuition as a mom which helped me make decisions without feeling paralyzed. When I was pregnant with my second child I knew that I wanted to recover better from pregnancy and started looking for the support that would help me do that. Luckily I had more tools to help me navigate because I’d already been through the early postpartum season once before, but I really didn’t find anyone offering what I was looking for. After having my second baby I realized that if I was looking for better support and care that there must be other new moms who are looking for the same, so I decided that I wanted to offer that service to new moms. This was back in the summer of 2021. From then on, I’ve been working hard to learn what new moms need, how to support them best, and how to help them feel confident and empowered in their pregnancy and postpartum season.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I don’t think starting a business is ever smooth. Maybe it can be, but it definitely hasn’t been for me so far. My main struggle has been figuring out how to get the word out there about my business. I love helping and supporting new moms, that is what lights me up, but I wasn’t anticipating how much time I would be spending learning how to run a business. From marketing and accounting to networking and events, I wasn’t really ready to run a business. I went to school to be a kindergarten teacher and they don’t teach those things in those programs. It has been a lot of trial by fire, realizing I need something and then getting that thing quickly. Running a small business goes like that, though, I think, until you have systems in place. Honestly, I’ve just gotten those systems as the need has arisen.

We’ve been impressed with Resurgens Postpartum, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Resurgens Postpartum specializes in supporting pregnant and postpartum moms navigate the fourth trimester and beyond. Specifically, I love working with moms so that they have not only planned for giving birth but planned for the postpartum season. Whether that is planning their physical space for postpartum so that their home works for having a new baby or preparing their relationships and support team for postpartum. I think that, in general, the postpartum season is so challenging because there is so much emphasis on planning for birth but much less emphasis on planning for postpartum. I believe that if we prepare for postpartum the way we prepare for any other major life change, we will feel empowered to transition into motherhood and recover from birth stronger. Beyond that, I work with new moms once they have had their baby so that they can navigate that season. I come alongside them to help them create feeding and sleep plans, adjust routines, and answer any questions they may have. I offer a compassionate and safe space for moms to ask their questions without judgment. This allows moms to share freely what they are going through and know that they have someone who can offer judgment-free support and coaching.

I also have built a large referral list of providers such as lactation consultants, chiropractors, and pelvic floor physical therapists. I love referring moms to providers who offer more specialized support when what they are going through is beyond my scope of practice. Moms deserve the best care possible and shouldn’t have to look far and wide to get it.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is when my dad used to take me out in his Saab for “exercise”. He loved that car so much, and he loved just taking it out for a drive. We would crank up some Solid Gold Oldies, roll the windows down, and sing along to the music as he drove fast around all the country back roads around my hometown.
