Hidden Gems: Meet Tiffany King of VA like a Mother

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany King.

Hi Tiffany, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In August 2018, I had to decide if I was going back to work or if I was going to figure out a way to bring in money so I could continue to stay at home with my then 1-year-old. I gave myself 15 days to launch and got my first signed contract eight days after I announced my business!

After documenting launching my virtual assistant business, I would get the occasional DM asking me how I did it. Eventually, I made a YouTube video and a blog post detailing how I became a VA so I could just easily send people to that.

Fast forward to when the whole world shut down, and that YouTube video blew up! Now I had mamas in my comments, DMs, and email asking me to turn that video into a series! By this time, I had also helped a few mamas start their own VA businesses.

In July 2020, I created VA like a Mother – a resource for mamas who want to begin their virtual assistant careers so they can stay at home with their children.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Has it been easy? HECK NO! There was a stage where I was getting probably 3-4 hours of sleep at night because it was so hard trying to juggle being a mom, wife, and businesswoman (especially now that I have 3 kids). I have had many days where I thought it would be much easier to just get a 9-5.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about VA like a Mother?
My mission at VA like a Mother is to serve moms who want to start their virtual assistant business. I provide moms with the steps and support they need to be able to launch their business so that they can live their dream of staying at home with their little ones. I do this by helping them set up and structure a business that gives them the freedom, flexibility, and financial security to serve both their family lifestyle and their clients.

Besides the one-on-one coaching sessions and the 90-minute online training I currently offer, I am most proud of the many moms I’ve been able to help launch their business and bring in an income.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My husband, Tobias, had always been so supportive and gave me the freedom to pursue entrepreneurship.

My sister, Courtney, and my mother, Sonia, and my friends, Nigeria and Kesi, are always in my corner cheering me on and bragging on me!

My very first client, Rosalyn Hedgepeth, is an old college classmate who referred me to other clients I’ve been blessed to work with.

My business mentors Bria Hash and Loran Wilson have given me some great business gems! The way Bria shows up and serves her community has inspired the way I show up and serve mine. Loran is seriously a client experience expert and inspires me to show up for my clients in a way that truly serves them and their business.

And finally, my friend, Myrna Cervetti, has encouraged me when I had moments of wanting to quit by helping align my business to the life I want.
