Today we’d like to introduce you to Khanh Pham.
Hi Khanh, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
First of all, I was born and raised in Vietnam, a small country in Southeast Asia. When I was young, I always had a passion for sneakers, but unfortunately, we did not have access to sneakers, limited-release like Jordans, Nikes, Adidas, etc. so I could only see them through the Internet. When I moved to the United States (Morrow, GA) in 2013, that was when I could actually make my passion for sneakers come true. I always hung around the malls every weekend, checking out the shoe stores like Footlocker, Nike, Champs, etc. And one day, my friend invited me to a Facebook group called ATATF (Addicted to All Things Fresh). It’s a buy, sell, and trade community-based in Atlanta, GA, where like-minded individuals discuss all things fresh such as clothes and sneakers. And I met my best friend Douglas in 2015, who was the one who told me about opening a sneaker store in which we can make money by doing what we love (sneakers).
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all. I was just 20 years old when we (me and Douglas) opened Hype 24/7 in the Summer of 2017 in North Dekalb mall. Just like any new business, we did not know what to do at first, we were both young and just tried to make it past day by day. Our first location, North Dekalb Mall did not really get us lots of foot traffic, we mostly rely on social media such as Instagram and Facebook. We could not afford any employees so me and Douglas both has to be at the shop every day. We also did not have any financially backed up by both families, everything was all from our pockets. And the most important thing is inventory, we both have to be at the store and also have to go out to get inventory for the store. Now we are in downtown Atlanta and things pretty much work in our way so we’re really thankful. Social media really did help us out a lot, big thanks to my Youtuber friends like Harrison Nevel, Sole Resell, Sniper Jones, TonyD2Wild, etc. who really helped my business getting exposure.
