Life & Work with Christopher Kyle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Kyle.

Christopher, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my hair journey in 2017. I started off doing small things like sew-ins and quick weaves. I was working out of a strip club in Baltimore known as “Norma Jeans” and the dancers would all want me to try different styles on them. I soon realize that it was something that I really wanted to do so I started taking measures to perfect my craft. I knew that I loved wigs because of the versatility that it came with as far as styling and color so I stepped away from sew-ins and quick weaves and got more hands-on with units. My first few units were not the best work but I didn’t give up on myself I chose to work harder and before I knew it, I was one of the top stylists in my city. I trusted my process enough to relocate to Atlanta and so far it was been a great experience. I’ve met so many people from all around the world and I’ve created so many bonds whether personal or work-related and now more people know of me and can recognize my work and for that, I’m very proud of myself.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
OF COURSE NOT! learning how to trust myself was one of my biggest bumps. I still deal with this to this very day. I had to remind myself that I have all of what I need, I’m already equipped for this journey and most importantly I have to give myself grace. A challenge is something that doesn’t come easy, you have to work very hard for your end goal. For me, most of my challenges and obstacles are more so mental than physical. As long as I can put my best foot forward I’ll prove my self-doubts wrong and show up and kill it every time.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create custom units, I specialize in coloring and I’m known for very elegant soft styling like curls and sexy girly looks. I’m most proud of the fact I stayed true to myself and my roots and it allowed myself to evolve at a steady pace. I do what comes to mind as far as coloring, cutting, and styling and the outcome is always a clean and well put together fun vibe. I feel a connection with each creation as if it’s a part of me. I think all of my clients can feel that connection and that’s what keeps me working.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
My whole entire career is based on taking risk. My first risk that I had to take was quitting my job at the Post office of seven years in 2018. I had to trust in myself more than I’d ever have at that time and it was a major risk for me. Another risk was relocating to Atlanta with no core clientele just faith, vibes, and talent. Those are the two biggest risks that stand out to me in this very moment. I think that taking risks proves more to yourself than others because you won’t know unless you try and I’m currently still trying.
